oh god, I think dns just published the dns article that John was concerned about ppl reading
Ill only give the website link on this one
If all the media attacks are mostly fuelling your anger and desire to fight back then you’re probably okay to read it
If you’ve been driven to total hopelessness that no other feeling can override it then for gods sake don’t click the link for your own wellbeing

This was published 30 January or am I looking in the wrong place?
0 -
Wrong place it starts Disabled Man dated 6/2/25 & currently the top story

And the story dates back to 2023

Thanks. I've just read the series of articles published this evening.

This really is incredibly cruel.
For months now, Labour has done nothing but dick us around.
They have to know how scared people are, and it really shows how little they care that they haven't simply taken the time to be honest as to their intentions.
Instead all we get is vague hints and media fuelled speculation.
They've shot themselves in the foot with this behaviour because I cannot see them being elected for another term.

I think breaking covid rules & dodging the question by saying but the other party were partying did it for me

yes, that was about the last straw.

I'm one cancelled my membership when Jeremy was replaced by this current joke squad.

Yes, the right wing of the party briefs against the leader and social media doubles down on those attacks !! It seems to be working.

Ok, so not sure what the rest of the article says but on the front of the telegraph in one of the smaller sections at the bottom of the front page says "PM axes bid to reform sick note culture"

I saw your other thread asking about Labour unions momentum would be the union
Not me.

is this referring to voice-coachgate?
No Labour won’t get a second term at this rate - problem is that reform and a kemikaze led Tory party would up the cruelty and privatise the nhs & other dire stuff to boot
Labour need to be persuaded that trying to cater to reforms audience alone is not a great tactic (Tory, reform and Labour are all fighting over the far right voter - and the centralist, moderate and left wing voters have basically been forgotten)
Is it even possible for starmer to have an epiphany, fire the right wing ministers from their positions, change his advisers and change directions to more centralist politics?
I mean I think many Labour backbenchers (and a couple of ministers) realise how things are are rapidly going downhill and if they keep to this current trajectory they won’t last till 2029 without the public backlashing louder for them to go than the unelected sunak
I go back to your quote ‘the most dangerous ppl are those with nothing left to lose’ - if reeves/kendall implement even 50% of that nasty times piece last weekend then tens of thousands of disabled ppl would feel that desperate………..and I don’t think Labour have factored that in
I’ve noticed on twitter disabled ppl understanding the seriousness of the situation and show a willingness to fight the dwp and labour head on - only organisation is missing, a focus point to relay around
I can’t remember @Nightcity if you wanted to figure out a way to be able to step up your own keyboard ‘activism’ if that makes sense?

At what age do you stop being young? Serious question
It would make sense for the dwp to focus on the younger generations - I’ve noticed that my parents generation is much tougher than my own and I don’t want to offend any of the under 29 year olds on this forum with my observations on generations younger than my own
This is not me taking Kendall’s side (the sooner she goes the better) but I do worry that if the disabled community doesn’t become open to the possibility that there may be a small but sizable number of individuals who shouldn’t be claiming disability benefits then the dwp will have no problem casting the net and no caring who they catch & penalise as long as they meet their saving quota (although the likes of reeves sound like they don’t care who loses their awards as long as the quota is met)
I still think the dwp would be wise to look into the new claimants from 2020 onwards as because of covid and f2f barely been carried out they haven’t been put under the same magnifier glass as long term claimants and the amount of claimants rising 50% in just 5yrs is massively rapid even when considering Covid (as even though covid disabled a lot of ppl it also ended the lives of many)

It refers to this.
a question tabled and answered in parliament shows (thankfully) The Tory fit note plan isn't happening now so the dangerous idea of jumped up work coaches having a say instead of doctors over who gets signed off is binned.

Kendall's ignorant and silly twaddle isn't going down well, the tide is changing and people (except the obvious places like daily mail) are no longer listening and showing compassion and support for our community.
right now as of typing this a copy of her outburst posted on bluesky has 19 comments, evey single one is ranting at her and all for us
an ITV news article about it on Facebook has 251 react emojis of which 132 are angry faces.
people are sick of their games and rhetoric now.
I'm glad at 42 and a half I'm not classed as "young" because that woman seriously has it in for younger claimants in particular bordering on obsessed.

Its pretty much war at this point.
A BBC article suggests the reforms are centre of Labour's larger mission. It reminds us that when Reeve was in the job that Kendall now has she vowed to make Tory welfare reforms look like child's play, and that Labour MPs have contacted the BBC to say they believe there is gaming in the system, this is where I think Labour and Tories differ.
Labour leadership have an ideology of being strongly anti sickness benefits. It started when they accused the Tories of using it to mask the unemployment figures, carried on with the introduction of ESA, and is now being progressed further again now.
Whilst with the Tories its just they are ideologically obsessed with low taxes and small government, when benefits get in the way of that they attack it, but they do seem to hint at some sympathy now and then, which I have only ever seen from the type of Labour MPs who are getting purged from the party. As a example unless it was Corbyn, I dont think we would have ever seen cost of living payments from a Labour government.
Under Labour, it was planned to reassess as low as every 3 months, and to kick a million of incapacity benefits altogether, I feel people keep needed to be reminded of this.0 -
Kendall is treating her disabled constituents the same way. He only got "any" reply likely because she is required to give him a response, otherwise would have been ghosted.
What was Keir's response to Davey bringing that up?
15 minutes in
Keir didnt respond on Kendall specifically, as Davey brought the point up on Kendall as start of a second question on a different subject.0 -
Oh no doesnt sound good
