I’m sorry if it came over as though I was/was trying to initiate infighting in any way (if that was directed at me.) That absolutely wasn’t my intention and I did say in my comment that we need to stick together, regardless of our disabilities, whether physical or mental or both.
The thing is, if these “young idiots” are posting saying they have PIP, then their conditions must be severe enough to be awarded, because we all know how much of a struggle that can be! I’m fairly young (25, first applied aged 22, awarded at 23) for mental illnesses and I felt as though it took until the tribunal for anyone to take me seriously. So it does bug me when people (no one here, but politicians) talk about all these young people being on PIP for “mental health issues” when it is a significant and catastrophic thing.
You don’t belong in the bin, and please don’t let these bstards try and convince you otherwise. It sounds really difficult to have all the physical AND mental conditions you have, and I hope you have an adequate support system and medical input. You deserve that, and you not only deserve but have a RIGHT to live the best life you can. These out of touch, idiotic politicians will never understand. But we do.Again I’m sorry if my comment came over as dismissive or diminishing — I just think it’s important for the wider public to stand up for those of us with invisible disabilities too, and I’m sick of mental illness not being taken seriously by people in power. They could not live a DAY in our brains. They just couldn’t. And if they managed, I have no doubt that their attitudes would be significantly different!
We need to stand together. They want us to be divided. And if they focus on the mentally ill, next they’ll come for the physically ill who have some degree of capacity, and so on until everyone is stripped.
We’re in this together!

Yeah its a Labour MP. I don't have any faith in getting any sympathy from her with what I have read online about her and from local people but I need to write to her regardless. I expect I will just get a generic "change is needed. Work is good for the soul" typical Labour MP reply, if any.

Old style Contribution Based ESA is currently not being transferred over to UC at the moment. However I'm not sure if we will be effected with the upcoming proposed changes. x

She definitely needs to be reminded that the most deprived constituencies are overwhelmingly Labour ones. Hammer the poor is rarely a popular policy with poor people, regardless of what a poll in the Daily Mail told them.

Hi Catherine , I’m stressed as we all are . Not much appetite right now. Trying to keep mind busy as I don’t know what to worry about as they’re not confirming anything. I think they’re finding it harder than they expected and have delayed the green paper so that’s good news 🤞🙏.
How are you doing ?

I contacted my MP and explained the constant state of fear that myself and many other sick/disabled indivudals are going through. She responded by saying the welfare state is an integral part of a compassionate, modern day country and that the most vulnerable in society should always have a safety net to fall back on. She said she would be opposing any substantial cuts or dangerous reforms.
I'm just very worn out with it all, especially the constant attacks/downplaying of people with mental illness. When I was on the bus last week going to my dentist appointment, a group of older people were sat in front of the bus talking about the country and how ''so many people are just lazy these days..'', an older man in the group even said he read somewhere that ''everyone is pretending to be autistic nowadays to get benefits''. My issues are a mix of debilitating lifelong mental and physical conditions, I'm heavily medicated on a daily basis and I felt sick to my stomach hearing them openly mocking people who are unwell, vulnerable and struggling on a daily basis, the rage inside me began to boil over, I had to bite my tongue to stop myself from saying something.. I'd already had a horrendous encounter at a neighbourhood meeting a year ago when a similar thing happened where a small crowd of ignorant people were openly bashing people who are forced to survive on benefits.
The mainstream media and certain key figures in government should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves for stirring up this ongoing, cruel campaign of hatred and degradation against the sick and disabled.
I just hope that we as a community of sick/disabled can defeat any plans that would put us in harms way. I'm thankful for the activists and the few MPs who are on our side, but we really need to prepare a solid plan of action for if they do decide to push any dangerous reforms our way.9 -
Hi sorry i think its my post that came across wrong. My partner & kids suffer with mental illness, they won't apply for pip after seeing what i was put through.
I wasn't taking aim at anyone i was trying to say (badly) its people who do those sort of things i think lie-bour are using to push this disgraceful narrative.
I'm honestly starting to think the leak was intentional & i dont think they were expecting such a backlash from the general public but also terrified it wont make a difference.
I am not usually good with words so if i ever saying anything wrong i apologise in advance. My view in life is it doesnt matter what your sex, age, religion, race etc you fit into 2 catergories 1) decent 2) idiots
Ive come along way since been bullied at school, getting through what i know were sexual assults (but never viewed it that way as it was groping by a man & woman) going through alot in my marraige, self harm, you know what im suprised im not more broken 🤣.
I won't let them knock me down, i can fall down all by myself 🤣🤣.
Sorry about my sense of humour.
Sometimes i wish i was back to been oblivious of whats going on

Please, please don’t apologise! You didn’t say anything wrong at all, and your sense of humour is great ;)
I’m autistic so I struggle to read tone, but I absolutely wasn’t trying to be rude there and I’m so sorry if it came across that way! I’m just so incandescently angry with this government and their spineless MPs (bar the ones who are actually giving an F about our rights to exist.) And I’m tired of mental illnesses being diminished in general. But I know that’s not what you were doing and again I’m so sorry if it came over like I was insinuating you were!
I think a lot of it is also exploitation by the media. I keep seeing articles staying nonsense like “mum of six claims £3k in benefits a month is NOT ENOUGH” when in reality it’s a vulnerable disabled person who is genuinely struggling (and is likely on that much from enhanced PIP, being in a couple, having kids etc.) But the media take advantage of these people who have real concerns and publish them with the intent of making them seem like scroungers wasting hard earned tax. And then folk see these headlines and decide that mindset is true and they’re personally paying us to sit about watching tv all day (which is sometimes how I spend the day, because I’m too fatigued to do anything else or my paranoia is too bad to leave the house, and believe me I’d rather be up and about!)
Sorry for that slightly off topic rant! I also just wanted to say that you have been through so much, and I’m so sorry to hear that. Your experiences and illnesses are valid, and I know that’s a given and also sounds cliched but I feel like sometimes it’s good to be reminded, even if by a stranger, considering everything we’re hearing about ourselves right now. You are stronger than these weak-willed cowardly politicians ever will be! We all are. We should never forget or doubt that.

Just seen on X the TUC leader putting out a message saying they (labour) need to learn from history & not repeat it (Tory). Not to touch PIP it does need sorting but with unions & disabled community involved
