UC managed migration guide

I am not totally useless/thick with technology but, like my bank account, I don’t want to log in to a website to deal with my benefit claim. I go down the route I am most happy with and I’ll be claiming by phone and always dealing with the claim by phone. My choice, regardless of what anyone says about online.

I’ll be asking for twice monthly payments via an Alternative Payment Arrangement. Yes, they won’t be quite like ESA payments that are every 14 days exactly but payments every 14-17 days are still more frequent than monthly. This Scope Online Community user doesn’t have those skills to do monthly budgeting, he’s never been good with money.

Someone who’s single and over 25 and in receipt of the LCWRA element but can do monthly budgeting will see their monthly payments increase to £823.41 from next April. I have to see that amount get divided into twice monthly payments - £411.70 every 14-17 day period.
I’ll be getting more money on UC but that has come to Chris under Chris’ terms. £823.41 is a lot of money but he absolutely cannot stretch that amount from month to month under the default frequency.

Is that an option if so I do the same but how will you know when they want to contact you g

I would guess a text message would sent to the registered mobile number on the UC account that some action needs to be taken.

Obviously if someone claims by phone whenever they have a query to do with their claim it’ll have to be done by contacting the main UC helpline.

It’s just how I’ll want to deal with my claim - whatever tickles your fancy. I don’t want to deal a claim online no matter what anyone says about the online facility. It’s personal preference. I don’t do online banking so a benefit claim won’t be any different.

Ah yes thankyou

I want it all to go away

It usually takes a few weeks, and is sorted before the first payment. Occasionally I have seen it take a bit longer.

When you claim by phone you’ll get a monthly statement by post - and I do like the idea of this. You don’t get them on ESA. Obviously, I want to get paid twice a month - NOT just once a month.

I don’t rule anything out when I move across, particularly if they don’t address the issues that are happening right now for those on ESA that are migrating across. I’ll be calling that helpline every so often to ask if they have those all-important details from ESA on their servers. It’s that important that they get those details so the payments can be calculated how they should be.

What a farce this whole migration process is. It’s not fit for purpose, yet they want all ESA claimants to all move across to it. Sort out the issues then DWP. It’s alright acknowledging that there are issues, sort them out. You want us to all migrate. Sort it out.
ESA claimants that have been unlucky enough to get a letter already, some will have had right stress and issues.

I know it's awful dreading it

I don’t want a letter this year. They can make me wait until the year 2025 - just to see if they can address the issues that they are aware of. I wouldn’t hold your breath, however. This is the DWP after all. Words are words and actions are actions.

They shouldn’t be asking for fit notes when they’re not needed, they shouldn’t be making the claimant feel like another WCA has to be carried out when that’s not required either. An absolute farce of a system.

That would be unbearable

They need to some serious fixing 🧰⛏️⚒️ Catherine, ESA claimants shouldn’t be asked to do anything that that’s not technically part of the migration process. This is the DWP, though. Wouldn’t trust them as far as I could throw them Catherine.
It isn’t any wonder that I don’t wish to see a letter this year. The longer they take, the ABSOLUTE better.

Oh agree everyday it doesn't come is a blessing

I know my bank account will appreciate more money landing in it. I will be better off, that’s a fact. I acknowledge that. I should get my payments twice monthly as well even if is the DWP we are talking about😂😂🤣🤣.
