This is what it's saying MB8 in the Green Paper. I feel there needs to be more clarification on this. I claim ESA (CB) and I'm in the support group and was awarded it for 10 years.

    53. Unemployment insurance would be a new non-means tested entitlement for people who have contributed into the system. It would be created by replacing contribution-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) and Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) with a new single entitlement, paid at the current ESA rate (currently £138pw) and will be time-limited. This would provide stronger income protection during periods of unemployment for those with a recent work record, while revitalising the ‘something-for-something’ contributory principle in the working-age system. People claiming this would be expected to actively seek work, with easements for those with work-limiting health conditions.

    54. Alongside levelling up the rate, this change would end the indefinite entitlement to contributory ESA for those assessed as having limited capability for work-related activity (for new people claiming). Those unemployed after the time-limited period would be able to claim UC, depending on their personal circumstances. We believe this reform would align with the removal of the WCA, by offering a route to financial support for those with temporary and short-term health conditions, including for those who may not be entitled to PIP and therefore not entitled to the health element of UC.

NNo one has said anything about scrapping old CB ESA..it is only new claimants who were put on new style ESA. I receive old CB esa and liz kendal disnt seem to mention changes to it .

Barton, there are protections in Scotland for those with cancer. Loads of options. MacMillan will handle your appeals or claim if you have a cancer diagnosis. There is a dedicated benefits unit at the Beatson in Glasgow. Sorry if I sound emphatic but if you have leukaemia with treatment required every day and the travel that requires then you would qualify for ADP on quick route. I cannot understand the nil points they’ve given you.

Try not to worry too much - I got myself into a bit of a state worrying about it all and having to constantly justify.

It wasn't as bad as I thought. Like with all of us, what comes in goes out on living expenses - it can be clearly seen.

I think because everything is done online (pay carer etc.) a one-off cash withdrawal probably caught her eye.

She also questioned my lack of statements for my savings account. I had exactly £5.63 in it 😂 and there had been no transactions, so no statements, so she was fine with that.

I think (and I'm not an expert) they're looking for either big sums of money coming in and going out or smaller, regular transfers. I think it's more about fraud.

For instance, sometimes I just cannot cook (even a quick meal in the microwave) so there were a few Just Eat deliveries - always the same amount as I can only eat certain stuff due to IBD - she never even asked about that.

I hope this has made you feel a bit better 🙂 If you have any questions or just need a bit of support when it comes round just give a shout. I really do understand how you feel. x

Anyone with ESA contribution based, if that proposal goes ahead, will lose their entitlement eventually 6-12 months. As well as any NI contributions for their future pension.

So if you are on ESA contributions based I would reply to their green paper pointing that out.

definately get a dictaphone, basic ones are pretty cheep and straightforward to use. A lot of phones have apps you can download, most are just recording somoene's voice, so you can put the phone down (even have the screen shut off and you don't have to use it. I do think you legally have to tell someone you're recording them though.

Incorrect. I am receiving old CB ESA and it has not been changed to new style esa. Only new claimants are on new style esa. These are not the same thing but are both CB. I continue to receive legacy esa. I do not know if there will be changes to those receiving this legacy esa in support group who cannot work and also would like to know. I do receive pip with it..

This doesn't say anything about people in support group of CB ESA who have an indefinite award due to permanent severe illness like I have .it is talking about people with short term conditions who could go back to work.

I have an app @ St Thomas' Hospital this coming Monday. I'm going to be laying it all on the line as its been this way for well over a decade, and even I can see the cerebellum tonsils are down past the foramen magnum!

The pain is constant, so even at its baseline level its 80%+ of persistent pain that has never dipped below that level in over 15+yrs.

Too many other symptoms to mention here right now; but you'll know all of them very well, alas!

I have a pic of my MRI on my phone so will be showing the specialist Monday, just incase he doesn't have it to hand.

I've got an old phone and tablet so a lot of apps don't work, but I once used the tablet to record a phone conversation once (not benefit related). I felt like I was being really devious!!! 😂😂

Yes, you are supposed to tell them that the conversation is being recorded but, as far as I'm aware, they can't refuse it.

I just said (what they always say) "I am obliged to tell you that this conversation is being recorded". I don't think they're allowed to refuse, but don't quote me on that!

No you do NOT have to tell anyone you are recording your conversation with them for personal use. Covert recording is not illegal in the UK. You can easily download smart recorder app onto a separate android device for example and press record while on your speaker phone..alternatively download Cube ACR of you have sn android phone and it will record your phone call.
