I went to MR for an increase in award and said to my legal advisor about asking for an extension. He said no not all at once let’s see what happens. He messed my new evidence up and I lost MR , when I called dwp to explain and asked about tribunal they instantly contacted the case manager who looked again and award me highest . I think had I requested they look at length of award I may of got it . Well done to you as at least you don’t have this worry right now x

I think the suggested changes to ESA would fall under this umbrella, making them unlawful.1 -
go the health top up if you qualify for UC.
If you don’t for whatever reason then you lose the benefit and the NI contributions towards your pension
Another thing, according to the withdrawal agreement, if you are to leave the UK and live in Germany say, you are entitled to 5 years of ESA CB

Agreed. My income is CB-ESA and PIP. I'm not eligible for UC. I live alone without family. I'm scared still. I'm currently polishing draft letters to various parliamentarians.

But why does that effect you now I don't understand next review you might get 4?

So you would need 4 on own and 8 on Any other questions on daily living ???

They don't, one of the questions on the new pip test dosent make sense, the one that you have trouble washing below waist and hair. Surely it should mean above.
Also what is light touch review?

I think I read that you need atleast one category to score a 4, Then you need another 4 points in the other categories to make up a minimum of 8 points. I'm not sure if I'm right though.

Technically I don’t have to worry for a few years but I’m still terrified! I have filled in the green paper consultation and enjoyed telling them (politely) what I think of them

yes I need to get that filled out . Hopefully by the time yours is due again things won’t be as bad . I’m sure some of these reforms aren’t even legal

I read this morning the dwp have a report which explains why there has been an increase in pip applications but they’re refusing to release it until after the spring budget . So they’re bringing in reforms to basically stop ppl claiming and telling the public it’s MH ADHD Autism being used as a way to lie to get pip . Yet they have answers which they won’t tell us . I’m sure that will look good in court.

Please try not to worry to much about this (i know easier said than done :-( ) we hope any legal challenges these plans get put in the trash.
As for reassessments, the backlog will be massive right now so when you do get ESA/UC50 forum to fill in it could take many months to be heard.
Everything is rushed right now while having everyone on ESA/IB on UC by April 2026 and assessments to will only cause more problems for the DWP
This won't save them money this way.

hello everyone and of course (like you) I am very saddened but not surprised at the proposed approach the labour government is taking towards the sick and disabled. Personally I worked for 35 years (14 of which were with severe pain) until it became too much for me and I retired through ill health. I claim contribution based esa (support group) and am worried (like so many others) that this will be taken away from me. Anyway i read something this morning about ESA and the proposed “New Insurance” that I had not seen anywhere else (my apologies if everyone else is aware and I’ve just been a little slow on the uptake) but I could not find any information as to when Labour are planning (subject to the so called consultation) to bring this new insurance in to replace the contribution based support group and an article in disability news (see below for web address) states:
“From 2028, ministers also plan to end the indefinite entitlement to contributory employment and support allowance for those with a recent work record who have been assessed as having limited capability for work-related activity”
no idea if this is accurate / correct but if it is at least it would give people claiming this benefit a few more years to prepare (if possible) subject to any reassessment that could possibly occur during now and I assume April 2028.Hope this maybe helps someone and if not then apologies for posting that people were already aware of.

NS ESA and CB ESA in the support group, for those worrying (including me!) I know the below statement is vague and needs clarifying but I take some comfort that this is not talking about those of us with life long conditions (I.e.indefinite ESA payments) because it’s does specifically say “for those with temporary and short-term health conditions”.
53. Unemployment insurance would be a new non-means tested entitlement for people who have contributed into the system. It would be created by replacing contribution-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) and Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) with a new single entitlement, paid at the current ESA rate (currently £138pw) and will be time-limited. This would provide stronger income 54. Alongside levelling up the rate, this change would end the indefinite entitlement to contributory
ESA for those assessed as having limited capability for work-related activity (for new people claiming). Those unemployed after the time-limited period would be able to claim UC, depending on their personal circumstances. We believe this reform would align with the removal of the WCA, by offering a route to financial support for those with temporary and short-term health conditions, including for those who may not be entitled to PIP and therefore not entitled to the health element of UC. during periods of unemployment for those with a recent work record, while revitalising the ‘something-for-something’ contributory principle in the working-age system. People claiming this would be expected to actively seek work, with easements for those with work-limiting health conditions.
