The irony of it all is that this could be the catalyst which costs Labour the next election, which will destroy their "social justice" credibility for generations also.

We know Starmer doesn't care, he was already set for life before becoming an MP in 2015, Reeves, Kendall and Timms no doubt will enter the house of Lords but all 4 of them will be remembered for this saga.
Is it worth it? To ruin other people's lives under the guise of benevolence and a "moral imperative". Stephen Timms is a Christian and so is Rachel Reeves, Christ himself said "For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you took me in.".
It's about the idea that our actions towards others, especially the vulnerable, will be a key factor within Christian orientated judgement. I'm not religious but I understand some aspects, compassion is something which is beyond religion.

Mel Stride was speaking in parliament today and he said "instead of proper reforms to PIP their own plans are a rushed cost cutting exercise so rushed they even had to change them after they announced them and their own backbenchers are in full revolt." I was quite shocked him of all people coming out with that.

I think starmers a psychopath and has therefore surrounded himself with Kendall and reeves who are too . Lacking in empathy and cannot read the room. Starmer tries to mirror empathy but just looks robotic. He’s so stupid I’m embarrassed for him at times , walking around with his sleeves rolled up for no purpose whatsoever. I really hope the back benchers vote against him and his cuts , as you say his future is lined up there’s isn’t

Tweaks or not, it will still be devastating for far too many people. They will say it's not destitution. My partner, a full-time carer to his mother, receives just over £100 per week. His share of their joint-tenancy rent is paid, and he receives council tax support but is still responsible for water/sewage charges from his £100pw.
Beyond that, nothing - not a bean from UK Govt. Scottish Govt. provides a Carers' supplement of about £10pw - paid twice yearly.
£100pw to me is destitution in today's climate. Starmer/Kendall/Reeves/Timms consider it ample on which to live.
I'm astounded at the lack of reaction from Trades' Unions about this, as their members are the future claimants who will find themselves in our position as a result of one illness, one condition, one accident.

you have to care for someone 35 hours a week if I’m correct so it works out about £3 per hour . Below the minimum wage . If a million people lose pip and their carers have to work that’s a lot of people needing carers from local government on £10 or more an hour . Not to mention training and hiring extra tribunal staff

I hope these proposals will be scrapped/watered down/legally challenged. They have not been thought through by the Government. Labour will be out of Government come the next GE.

The back benchers who’ve waited 14 years must know they won’t be voted in again in their lifetime with starmer . They need to get rid of him to save themselves if not for us

Since a few of us keep saying that these proposals will be watered down or need to be watered down, how would you water them down, had you been asked to do this, as I can't see how to water down these evil proposals?

Dont know about anyone else but , .....that says to me that the areas that they haven't consulted on , such as the pip and scrapping the wca and using pip as one assessment , will be debated in parliament , then amendments will be suggested and then it will go to a vote 🤷 so surely with all the controversy and doubt over these reforms by so many of there own MPs and other party's , lib Dems , greens etc that there will have to be amendments made .... I wouldn't count on the Tories to vote against these though once there being debated in parliament as the only reason they are said to be voting against them now is to cause labour headaches ... Still more than enough push back without the Tories to get tweaks ....

That’s what I said earlier. Every part of them is brutal. Apart from the 4?point rule I think they need to keep pip and lcwra separate so we are left with something if we need to go tribunal

When Mel Stride proposed to make the PIP assessment as a single assessment for both LCWRA and PIP, Labour were furious, but they now want to do the same thing which they opposed and even worse!
Sickness benefits and PIP should be separated and each should have its own assessment.

Did you know that Stephen Timms was stabbed twice in the stomach in May 2010 by an angry constituent, or that he was almost 70 years ago!
I see now why he's hell-ben on these proposals and doesn't care about what everyone else is saying! He must be planning to give up his seat, which he has been holding since 1994, at the next general election.
