1st in 5 years - hairdresser tomorrow

Ah shucks guys!!! Thank you for your sweet words. I'm trying to snap out of a funk on my physical appearance for a few years now as I've been so absorbed in addressing physical health and mental health. Buying some new clothes this week too. Quite likely some others on the forum with disabilities can relate to having to prioritise health over outward appearance?

You inspire me too @Santosha12 💕 You're incredibly creative and perseverant to be doing your hair with after breaking your wrist. Wow! I too can't stand the amount of time to have it done in the salon. It's a ridiculous stress and a waste of time! So I take the simplest route.... The colour I choose is close to my own colour, so I just do it every three months and just dump all the colour in one shot. It's crazy easy and takes no time. I'm doing it tomorrow.

Re clothes.... I never buy them online. Typically I buy basics new and as much as possible second hand because it's typically better quality, more original and cheaper, and a lot of fun to go treasure hunting through all the old stuff. oh and it's good for the environment too. It can be a fun experience in time travelling too, seeing the old styles. 😊 I've been buying second hand since my teens. What about you?

Thank you so much, @Holly_Scope and @SheffieldMan1976 🙏🏼😘 I had medium to long hair almost all my life and really liked it, but in 2015 I lost all my hair due to chemo. I had a short wig that I fell in love with, and have kept my hair short since. Short hair needs more work, but a hat fixes even the worst bad hair days. 😊

@Santosha12 apart from the second-hand stores, we also have yard sales in Canada and I loved those, which is kind of like the UK car boot sales that you have in a field. I've been to England to visit a friend there three times, in Norwich, and I went to a car boot sale once and many times to the charity shops, which are spectacular. They were the highlight of my trips. That's how much I love second-hand shopping! Oh how exciting that you've found some stores! Fingers crossed that it works out!!

Size 4?? OMG. I think the last time I was a size 4 was when I was 10. 😆 Yeah, I don't care about brand names either. I've got a really good eye that compensates for my tiny budget. Here's the dress I bought secondhand for the formal wedding in 2 weeks. I paid £17! (It looks tiny, but it's not)...

Hi @Bluebell21 and thank you! Hopefully they match, but I bought them online, so the colours may be different. Fingers crossed for tomorrow when they arrive. Yes, I have three possible pairs of shoes in mind, all of them flats. I wouldn't have been caught dead in flat shoes with any dress or skirt in the past, but I just can't wear heels anymore, so I don't wear dresses or skirts anymore, which is part of why I feel so yucky. The dress is floor length, so the shoes won't show much hopefully.

Yes, @SheffieldMan1976 I actually found two of my capes that are a strong possibility and actually work for flying. Imagine that! So if all goes rotten, I can just smile and fly off. Ah, the joys of being a superhero.

@Santosha12 what a delightful collection you have! Thank you so much for taking the time to post the pics. Wow. That amber pendant is absolutely stunning. The workmanship in the silver is amazing. When my Mom and I reunited a few years ago, she gave me a ton of silver jewellery that is stunning. She can't wear much jewellery anymore because she's on blood thinners. Before that, I really had virtually nothing of value. I'll pick out the nicest pieces and post them.

The handbag is stunning. I can't use them anymore because they won't stay put using my mobility devices. Yeah, just another reason to feel yucky. Boo-hoo.

As a Canadian, I of course adore coats. But I can't wear them here because it's too hot. Some would think woe is you, but it really is something I miss. Love your cape! I bought a secondhand one last year that is awesome on all my mobility devices. YAY that you can still use yours. The cape swish? LOL, yeah it's amazing! Or would you call it a swoosh? Or may a swish swoosh?

You're so very generous to offer to send your curlers. This morning bought a really cool styling brush today similar to the one the hairdresser used last week to style my hair. It was only 5 pounds!! Here it is….

I coloured my hair yesterday and it's perfect. Tomorrow I'll try to style it with this brush. Fingers crossed!

Thanks for your well wishes @Bluebell21 🙏🏼 So do you feel the same about heels? To me, flats ruin a dress or skirt. Even pants look better in heels IMO. Also, I don't feel as feminine in flats. Yes, they're more comfortable. Mind you, I can barely even walk in flats (heels are now impossible). Another thing is I'll be taking my walker, so that's neither feminine or festive. Yes, I know, I know, I should be grateful to have what I have. And I am, but my heart is big enough that I can also feel sad at the same time. Like for all of us on Planet Earth - life is bittersweet.

The most important aspect of the wedding is of course the wedding itself. I'm just using the occasion to see if I can rise to the occasion of feeling pretty, of finding my new sea legs, so to speak, in this newly disabled body. I would love to feel as proud of the New Me on the outside as I am on the inside.
