    Just a random question in response to "don't forget to vote"

    In the past I have sometimes decided not to use my vote if I feel I don't have enough knowledge to use it responsibly if that makes sense. I don't know if that's justified or silly?? I suppose no one has all the info really. All my family members also say that if I only know a little bit I would probably make a better judgement than an average person with more knowledge, I won't comment on that or whether I disagree but was nice of them to say :D
    I think it's important to exercise your democratic right. I will say, knowing even a little about what is going on in the world probably puts you in a better place than many people to make an informed decision.

    Even if you don't know a lot, a quick check on what your local parties/candidates are proposing will likely give you enough information for you to be able to decide!

    I do think even if you can't decide, a spoiled ballot is better than no ballot.

    Thanks for the reply Jimm but thought I'd mention this bit!!

    My Dad used to spoil his police and crime commissioner ballot paper because, as an ex police officer, he loathed the relatively new idea of politicising the police - when he joined he swore to serve the crown and country but not a particular political party. Maybe the oath has changed now?

    Just to add a little thing I found quite amusing. I have an elderly and kind of eccentric family member, who I won't identify... they voted for a liberal candidate because "they were the only one with an English sounding name". So they voted liberal, but the motive for doing so was anything BUT liberal!!

    A vote is a vote I suppose

    Shout out to @WhatThe
    @WelshBlue
    morning. I wish you would chat on here. You both are so interesting xx
    Thank you @Ada ... I wouldn't say I'm interesting, just that I've had a lot of varying life experiences/traumas/ accidents, some my own doing and some just 'bad luck' or other people ... but I am lucky to have had the strength to push through and carry on.  Much like yourself  :)

    I may not be proud of some of the things I've done, but am damned proud of how I turned out ...

    I'm like Marmite ... either love me or hate me.  I can be with my wife and someone we know can talk to her and totally ignore me.  I still sleep at night though.  Usually I think that person is a total dingbat too.  Small town minds can be the most closed

    I do read the thread, but you've all got such a nice rapport going on it sort of seems a shame to be an interloper  :)

    Betty is beautiful

    My day is trying to pot up plants ... bringing home to roost how useless my hands are getting for simple things

    Rain will soon stop play.  So over it now.  About the only year since finishing work I'm glad I still don't work in the forestry industry

    @WelshBlue

    I think you are an interesting person as well ... if I'm allowed to say (I do put my foot in it sometimes but never out of maliciousness) you seem like a normal person that's been shaped by their experiences, in contrast to myself where I think I was just born a bit odd :D

    Can't speak for all but I no one should feel like they are interloping on this thread, I hope others agree :blush:

    Back to the thread question I am feeling really weird today, kind of like a bit sick but spacey as well, not drunk, more how you feel when it's really hot and you seem to be just drifting about... I'm drinking Lucozade now to see if that helps...

    Green party is always my second vote, I would always vote them but I feel like its a waste as not many vote for them which puts me off. I would love for the green party to start to build themselves up though and topple the big 2 leader parties.

    Even though it is "just" the local elections, they really do affect your local area so it is important to vote in them still! Local councilors can really help push to make your area more accessible.

    I voted labour for the Mayor of manchester (where i'm from). Andy Burnham has been a really good mayor for the past few years and is a really nice person so wanted to keep him in.

    I was torn between labour and green party for the council, but again voted labour as I didn't think if I voted green party my vote would be wasted and not make much difference. But before I have voted green party loads of times. I'm just trying my best to get rid of the tories reign of terror at the moment.
