I'm terrible at certain things do worry me, my daughter the same.
I get fixated on a worry which gives me a headache or I panic. Latest worry slugs climbing up the side of the house , and pip getting cut due to evil sunak.

Thanks @Albus_Scope .  I'm still awaiting for my assignment . At one point I was so sure about the Autism but now after a considerable with someone I'm not sure anymore.  I believe I'm adhd but not sure about the Autism.  Can they be linked?

I have Autism and ADHD combined so you can certainly have both. Before someone said I might be autistic and having an assessment I never even heard of autism before or knew what it was. But having an assessment and being diagnosed answered so many questions and it made me finally find myself and why I was feeling so different to everyone else.

One thing I have learnt is everyone on the spectrum is different and no 2 people are the same or have the same issues but having an assessment will hopefully find the answers you are looking for. All the best.

I have heard that it is incredibly difficult to get pip for Autism .

They don't make it easy for anyone to get PIP to be honest, it's not the easiest system to navigate.  The best way of doing the forms is by showing how your disabilities affect each of the descriptors, with real life examples. It's less about any diagnosis and more about proving how you're affected. I hope tht makes sense? :)

Hi, Strawberry 1, I have just joined and saw your post and thought I could contribute. I have Autism and ADHD, I have been on anti-depressants for 15 years, when I talk to my doctors about coming off it's always,"maybe you shouldn't yet". I think it's more about sleep with me. I've never slept properly my entire life without some sort of drug (prescribed). From about the age of 5 or 6, when my parents went to bed I would leave the house and walk the streets all night, and it was peaceful and calming for me. I'm now 58 and although I can fall asleep through sheer fatigue, if I wake up thats me awake because my brain never shuts down and the instant I wake up it starts racing away. The meds I'm on now surpress my brain enough so I can go back to sleep. The lack of proper sleep depresses me, and the modern world overwhelms me completely at times, also a depression trigger.

Hello @Azitwaz , my sincere apologies for my late response. I've only just seen this. Firstly welcome to the Scope forum. I hope you find it helpful. It is a very helpful place. Everyone is kind , friendly and supportive. It's a really good forum . You explain the Autism very well indeed . I'm still awaiting an assessment for autism and adhd . I'm thinking I do have a lot of adhd traits and also autistic traits too it's the waiting that's stressful. I'm so glad you have medication that settles things . My sleep has been an issue for years and years . I too have a racing mind . I get very depressed. Anxiety plays a part in my life . I can't cope with change and talking therapy doesn't help me whatsoever. So nice of you to join the site and thank you so much for explaining things also . Hope to keep chatting from time to time . Sometimes my mind goes into overdrive I hope you will be able to forgive me for that awful trait of mine . Nice to meet you. Kind regards.

Heya @Azitwaz and welcome from me too. :)

I can totally empathise with so much of what you've said, so thank you for sharing. I cannot do late shifts as once I wake up, my brain tells me its a work day and I just snap into work mode. There's no way of getting out of it! 😆
I think lack of sleep is something so many neurodivergent people suffer from. There's been lots of new research regarding the neurodivergent brain and how our circadian rhythms are out of sync, it's super interesting.

I was just wondering if a person has autism they are not empathetic?

I have autism and I am extremely empathetic to the point where I look at other peoples selfish entitlement and I think I am an alien from another planet as I am nothing like them, I deeply care about everything and everyone

Thank you for the feedback @Kali85 . I'm still awaiting an autism assessment. I'm probably panicking as usual. Thanks again for your help.

I over worry and panic about literally everything! I give myself a headache, but I just know that’s normal for me it’s just how my brain reacts to things. I hope you get your assessment soon, best of luck

I do as well, I struggle with friends, having it one sided in their favour. I also need time alone, people don't understand that, recently a ex friend was so nasty and vile when I needed space . I'm going through a lot at the moment .she expects me to be at her beckon call and message all the time

I am exactly the same, I need time on my own as I find being around my family or friends mentally exhausting, it’s like I need to be alone to regenerate. Sadly also all my relationships seem to be one sided people just constantly take from me; constantly wanting favours and everything evolves around their problems and I just have to deal with my problems alone as they don’t care, I find most people very self centred.
