From the day you submit your claim you are a UC claimant, as UC is paid in arrears, just tick the UC box @DawnBiiwoo

Oh thanks so much....I'm on ir esa support group now so should go straight to LCWRA without another assessment it says on Gov. , so I should be on the same money with transitional protection etc.... so if I just tick UC from day of my claim on my prescription, then I won't incur and fine ? 🙂

I am really worried about all that I'm hearing that DWP changing PIP to vouchers..... I myself use mine to pay for extra fuel foe my fire as I'm freezing 🥶 with my illness and I live in rural area and pay for a friend to take me places, and also I pay for someone to do odd jobs and gardening which I'm totally unable to do...and then I go to a place for accupunture etc to try to help with all the pain... all things I wouldn't be able to do or get done if they changed to vouchers.....its extremely worrying.....I don't smoke nor drink I really use my Pip for necessary living expenses …it's all so worrying!!!! 😕

Hey @DawnBiiwoo please try not to worry about the rumours of PIP vouchers. Those were ideas from the previous government and there are no firm plans to do this.

WHat if I have to have dental treatment ? When I migrate I have the 5 weeks wait I know, but I have dental procedures booked in and as I get dental and scripts and eye tests etc free with being on esa so right now I'm worried also what about my dental treatment....😩

Free NHS dental treatment is the same criteria as prescriptions and eye tests. Earlier in the thread you were advised to tick the UC box once you claim UC for prescriptions. Same applies to dental treatment.

SOmeone told me that I'd be wrong to do that until I actually get my 1st UC payment , someone else said I'd have to pay for treatment and then claim it back which no way could I afford so I'm just worried as I am a very bad worrier .…you can probably tell!!! So THE MOMENT I MAKE A UC CLAIM, ,EVEN IN THE 5 WEEKS I HAVE TO WAIT FOR 1ST PAYMEBT, I DEFINITELY DO GET MY SAME FREW DENTAL ETC ?AND I TICK OR TELL DENTIST IM THEN ON UC? XX SO SORRY To be a nuisance. 😕

UC is paid in arrears, during that 5 week assessment period you are still classed as a UC claimant.

Hi , xan someone tell me please...why I have just had a text message saying that Universal credit will be calling me within the next few days about Making a claim, when I have 10 days left before my deadline date? I haven't been able to face doing a claim yet as alot of hospital appointments and tests etc which are extremely worrying, and havnt been able to face doing the migration to UC, I'm going to do it tomorrow though!!

They are checking that you are able to make the claim yourself. I think this is a good thing because there’s many people out there that would not be able to manage to make a claim their self and if they don’t claim by the deadline their existing means tested benefits would stop.

As you’re planning on claiming tomorrow then they won’t contact you.

    THanks so much Poppy.

Hopefully it all goes smoothly as I've heard so many bad things when people migrate ....but as you have said before...if im in esa support group now ,then I should put a message in my journal saying I'm also covered by section 19 of UC and am in esa support group!!! And also fo not need to provide a fit note if they ask for one, as my present esa sp migrates over to uc!! It's just all so scary!! How soon can I get onto my journal after I make on line claim do you know please? 🤔 is it straight away so then I can give them the info as above?

Once you submit the claim you will have access to your journal.

SO immediately after I press submit I can the leave a message pretty much straight away in the journal......
