I feel like I don’t actually know how to be myself, it feels like I am always playing a role, whenever I am meeting with friends or family I am whatever person that friend needs me to be at that time, so I am very confused about who exactly I am as I am a different person for different situations or different ppl

That's a very common way to feel @Kali85 I put it down to having to mask for so long, it feels like you've lost who you really are? I've been practicing NOT masking around people, I'm just unapologetically me and I'm slowly working out who I am again.

You sound so much like me @Kali85 . I don't feel as alone by talking here. I empathise with you and my heart goes out to you . I am so very grateful for the conversations.

I play the role too @Kali85 . I just be what I think people expect me to be . @Albus_Scope your right it is masking and I've done alot of that throughout life . There's been odd occasions when I didn't mask and before I know it those people avoid me . Hope it was ok to pop this post here . My adhd is partly an interrupting problem. Please excuse me .

I think that is why the forum can be so special. Members can relate to each other without expectations and also no on knows who you are. @Kali85 and @Strawberry1
You are all lovely, kind, caring people please try and be yourselves.
Take care.

Oh not a worry at all @Strawberry1 there's no interrupting here, so please dont think you are!
As Bluebell says, just be yourselves, you're all fab.1 -
Cheers @Albus_Scope . Thank you too @Bluebell21

I am glad to see that @eeL has not deleted her account and has decided to just have a break.
I do not think she knows how much she has helped and supported other members, or how much we really appreciate her.
Please know we will still be here waiting for you when you decide to return.
Take care.

Hi everyone, how are we all feeling today? Hope you're all managing to stay warm 😊

Had no heating on for a couple of days, apart from one hour. Only because my chest hurts with copd.

Sorry your chest is hurting @Andi66. Do you have blankets or a hot water bottle to help keep you warm?
0 -
Yes I have thanks, wrapped up in layers

I am sorry your chest has been hurting @Andi66 please stay as warm as you can.
Take care.

Bluebell, I'm pretty sure it takes a few days for an account to be deleted.
I also don't want eel to leave the forum.
I'm surprised by some of Albus' comments and they would have upset me even more. A bit like asking women to stop complaining about misogyny and asking black people to stop complaining about racism…
We also can't make NT's understand anything! But we do need to be able to explore our condition and make connections here without worrying about NT's sensitivities 🙄 far too many autistic women have left the forum recently.
eel, I understand you so please count me in 😍 and please do stay 💜

I am sorry you have had a rough few days @Nightcity Know we are thinking of you. Take care.

I don't understand why NT's need to be persuaded of our differences.. Who would wish to be autistic or pretend to be? Which of us wants to spend time and energy trying to explain autism to people who don't believe in it?

Like my ex friend who accused me of making it up. That I managed all this time before my diagnosis. She's known me about.2 years if that. I'm 57 and struggled my whole life. And saying I use it as a excuse which I don't. This has effected me that I wear a wrist band with autism awareness . She has made me feel like a fake which I'm not

Hi @WhatThe - & everyone else here. Unfortunately if someone wants to leave, then if they email the Scope team as to their wishes, then I believe that's effective quickly. The Scope team, being the good people they are, of course hope no-one leaves, rather takes a break instead.
I also believe that Albus simply stating 'we're all in this together,' i.e. having our different disabilities, is what this community is about. We're simply talking about disabled people, not gender, race or creed…..just 'us.'
I also know that a lovely ND person, whom I considered a friend, has very recently left the community, & I miss her already. Now you might not all agree, but on another thread in which I'd commented, she said she didn't like the 'them & us' mentality thinking about people being ND or NT. If there's one thing I'd like to do, it's to say that because of her, & my own convictions, I don't want to see that either.
No, I won't understand being ND, any more than some of you may not understand for example chronic pain, but that doesn't mean I don't want to understand it better!
I'd ask, have I ever treated any of those here that are ND differently; have you seen that I've tried to reach out to those of you I've got to know a little? What do you think @WhatThe - isn't working together the better thing? Of course those who are ND should make connections, but that doesn't mean we can't all work together; please don't shut NT people out. eeL in fact it seems was good enough to apologise for their comment about NTs….
As far as I'm aware @Bluebell123 hasn't ever said they are ND, & you're OK with her, be OK with every member of the forum, please, it's what this community should be about.
