Upcoming changes to benefits

Exactly this people, wake up and smell the coffee it's a headline graber, government back down on disable benefit cuts, when the reality is it can push forward, with the charge to who now qualifies for Pip and ESA , as mentions it was always their plan

Targeting the disabled is the lowest of the low.
This Labour Government has already declared that the National Health Service England will be no more.
You wonder what Nye Bevan would have made of this Labour Lot ?

It's a start, but there's still going to be a big fight to come on their other proposals.
This was 1 element though that in theory I thought they would have been able to change effectively immediately from next year. Whereas changing PIP eligibility is going to require legislation and take years, and likely face legal challenges, where it's unlikely to remain as whatever they unveil next week.
There's also no mention of whatever this plan is to cut people on LCWRA, which is going to have a lot of crossover, and is still completely awful.
It is good news that a lot of Labour MPs are not happy though, including cabinet members. There are likely many that realise the damage this will do to their party, as this is the sort of thing that you'll see a list in 5 years of Labour MPs who voted for these cuts. Many also likely will fear losing their seats if they aren't seen to oppose this.

True! But in comparison to some other papers they are pretty reliable

I think incompetence usually much better explains the actions of politicians than sadism or psychosis. They certainly haven't embarked on a policy which would likely do their party immense electoral harm because they know what they're doing. But let's leave that one there.

Link says down for maintenance.
I'll have a look when it's back up.

Taking risks and electoral suicide are not the same thing. Sir Keir is off to a disastrous start and RR is already the ex-chancellor in waiting. They will likely lose an upcoming by-election despite a pretty large majority eight months ago.
More a circus act than Bond villains.

That would rather back up what I'm saying then, wouldn't it? That this is the result of rank incompetence by rank amateurs as opposed to an evil masterplan?
1 -
Again - this would indicate KS, RR et al don't even understand their own party or voters let alone anything else.

Not really. Almost by definition, it would never cross their minds how much they were unaware of. And the reasons you'd take a job that would likely involve running the country are obvious.

Liz Kendall new quotes trying to be on the charm offensive and paint herself as understanding
Labour backbenchers can’t be stupid enough to buy this twaddle can they
Found her newest quotes a tad condescending and vomit worthy that she’s painting herself as the good guy but still backs policies that will negatively impact vast majority of us
Woman can’t be role shifted soon enough imo

one thing that’s clear - our community backlash is somewhat hitting (not sure if it’s actually making a mark or we are just having the impact of an annoying fly)
but let’s keep up the pressure
prehaps Gov still don’t respect us or find us annoying but we’ve only been at it a week
Let’s see if opinions shift after 12, 26, 52+ weeks of similar continuous pressure
gov has underestimated stubbornness and obsessiveness of disabled as a group of ppl imo

a possible pip freeze was the least of our worries (don’t get affected by a freeze if you can’t get the award in the first place)
Don’t mistake a plastic twig for an olive branch!

How many people have actually emailed them so far? Do you have an accurate number? That each MP has received? I don't so won't comment any further on that one. But do you imagine Starmer or Reeves and their ilk read their own emails anyway?
Also you might want to avoid using terms like 'doing their bidding'. It's the sort of stuff you might hear on a late night phone-in from a caller who rants about the Illuminati and the New World Order.
I'm going back to bed.
Night.

it’s not just lcwra
Pip criteria change will block many of us successfully claiming
If dwp follow through on push to work (which may trigger coming off uc depending on wage) then pip cuts via criteria change may end up being more problematic then lcwra criteria changes/cuts for some of us
It’s mind boggling both have been put on the table
(And they are targeting pip - the benefit that helps disabled to be in the position to afford to even consider work - as their priority)
Kendall and co still don’t understand why the likes of dla & pip exact and how their existence aids the economy in many ways
The dangers of nasty ppl thinking they are smarter than they actually are 🙄

This is 4 AM and we are discussing during the night… We can't sleep… this is actually a sign we need this help and support… we can't give up… I don't know how I will survive if LCWRA would be cut 😥 I'm barely living with the current amount… can't imagine to have this lowered… I claim for mental health problem but it's so severe that I'm housebound and most of the time I'm in my bed… I don't know what next… I'm a bit lost but also I know I have to fight for my life… for our life… we can't give up… everyone's life is worth much… I'm weak but I won't give up, Liz it won't be so easy with me! ✊

Have no idea who Michael is and frankly don't care at this hour.
But, again, sleep well.
