@philevan77 someone said earlier in this forum around 12ish. Hopefully it is doomed ti failure.

Does anyone know what will happen with current pip awards? Will they likely be pulled and re-assessed using the new criteria?

Be a lot of work to reassess 3.6 million people ? I’ve got 10 year award

@philevan77 that's what I'm hoping. Wow I've read that 10 year awards get "light touch reviews", well under the current legislation at the minute anyway. I'm on a 7 year award, awarded in may 2024, with being contacted around May 2030 one year before it expires for the review. I really hope they don't pull existing awards! The stress and worry of them is awful!

Hi @Andi66 Are you talking about PIP? Means-testing in accordance with income and/or savings or via taxation hasn't been much in the media. @philevan77 mentioned they'd come across something but they've failed to respond to my request for a link or a sound source of information. The Green Paper is anticipated around midday.

Yes, I'm already scared, fir myself and my daughter, she's on pip, she works but has autism, bpd, and now eye problems. So I'm fearful for her as well

I didn't hear anything at all about pip being means tested either.

They seem to be really gunning for younger people with mental health issues

@ElizaRose Heres hoping indeed. It's great you got a 10 year award. Yeah I've been trying to get that question answered for a while bit can't find anything definitive

I don't think they will reassess people until their current awards expire.

It simply isn't feasible for them to do that.

I guess it makes sense really if done right and it’s voluntary. If they can help the young to train for work they can catch them early. Less incentive to help older people as conditions don’t improve with age . I can feel my body is less capable than a year ago .

Mine wasn’t even two years , the dwp increased it by a year . This is where they waste money.

I don't know where they think all these jobs are going to come from.

I live in a holiday resort and most jobs are seasonal and competively sought after mostly by non disabled people.

A lot of people here have to sign on out of season.

Jobs here are amongst the lowest paid in the country and a lot of people are on universal credit.

I am sure it must be similar in other areas of the country

Personally I think Liebour are living in cloud cuckoo land if they think they can drum up enough jobs and make it harder for disabled people to qualify for benefits.

I think it will back fire big time and they are in for an almighty shock.

Thanks for the reply @apple85 its much appreciated. I just hope more people realise that if they do plan on cutting LCWRA then that could potentially be alot worse for people than a PIP freeze which is why I am not surpised the media and some politicians are making a big deal about the PIP freeze being cancelled! I am still puzzled why so many seem more concerned about the PIP being frozen though and I dont mean that in a bad way btw.

I think this could be down to various reason such as this example, I told my other half about the potential changes and asked her what she would choose, a cut in LCWRA or PIP freeze and she said cut to LCWRA as she wants her PIP left alone, so I again explained it to her and she said she would be worse off if they froze her PIP as she assumed "freezing it meant stopping it!" Once I explained it was just in regards to the uplift every year and the math of how much she would lose she clicked on and said PIP all day long!

Tomorrow will be an interesting day and with some of the politicians who spoke today saying wait until the green paper is out as people might be less worried after its out then I do wonder if a cut is not on the cards for current claimants because if it is then how could people not worry even more so?

    Thanks again

I'm so scared this evening. I think it's the LCWRA issue that's the most troubling. I hope we can all sleep well and get through tomorrow morning. Love to all.
