I am 31 years old and have diaplegia. I am experiencing severe bladder problems and this is causing me to have sleepless nights and pain. I am so distressed. I can only work part-time and I am afraid that I will have to give up my job. Me mental health is suffering and the urologist has stated that I have had all recommended medication and he is running out of options. I am due to have an investigative procedure in the next few weeks but my consultant is very pessimistic about the outcome. Do I have to just live with this? I cannot cope.

Hi. Thank you. I will speak to the GP. I have recently managed to wean myself off antidepressants and suffered terrible withdrawal nightmares etc. I had hoped to not go down that route again. My problem at the moment is that the urologist seems to have run out of options and isn't positive about things like a catheter etc. As I'm only 31 I'm struggling to come to terms with this being what I have to put up with for the rest of my life. If only I could get a night's sleep or pain relief. It would be good to speak to someone who may have been/ or is in the same situation as myself. I appreciate your prompt message. Many many thanks.

    Hello @williamK

I'm so sorry you are going through a rough time at the moment. You can speak to your GP or even refer yourself to talking therapies if you think they would help you. Many of us in the community have been in that "limbo" when waiting on a diagnosis, tests or test results. I hope they are able to pinpoint what is happening with this latest appointment.

I am 31, and have a stoma because of Inflammatory Bowel Disease. I understand how daunting it can be and how little sleep also contributes to those low feelings. Have you spoken to the GP about not sleeping well?
