Do you have to have had a Work Capability assessment before you get a Work Allowance

Yes, you can fill it in. You were referred, which is all the matters. For the work allowance, if you don't have children on your claim then yes you need a work capability assessment. If found to have either LCW or LCWRA then you'll be entitled to the work allowance. Useful if you work but otherwise not.

    hi

Just been for a verification meeting at my local job centre for universal credit , I receive contribution based esa also and the lady adviser advised I should get a fit note from doctor because after a year I will need one for my universal credit claim as my migration will end after that, I have been on contribution based esa since 2017, I thought once I transfered over I wouldn’t need to provide doctors notes until reassessed for esa ?

You've been advised incorrectly. You do not need to provide a fit note because you're in the Support Group for ESA and you'll be entitled to the LCWRA element from the start of your claim. ESA Support Group has no end date and it continues for as long as you remain entitled to it.

If you haven't already, put a message onto your journal and tell them you're in the Support Group for ESA. It usually takes up to a few weeks for ESA to send your details across.

    hi poppy

Thanks for reply I have been following your advice and guidance when applying, the lady was quite insistent that in a year I would have to get a sick note even though my last sick note was 2017, I put on my journal when I applied that me and my wife claim contribution based esa and quoted regulation 19, I will not get a sick note and let it ride out as I trust your advice more than the lady in the job centre. Thanks for helping

morning , I have untill the 20th of this month to migrate over to UC which I will be doing the online form over the weekend and UC have non stop been sending me letters and texts . I have bad mental health and in September I was diagnosed with severe loss of hearing which I now have to where hearing aids . They are really stressing me out with their letters and texts . Has anyone else had this from them ?

I would write to your mp also I don't know if there's any letter your doctor could write for you what they keep messaging also tell job centre thier impacting on your mental health they need to know thier dealing with vulnerable client I'm sure people will know more about this than me sorry this is happening something we all dread

The letters and texts are because your deadline is approaching and no application has been made.

Perhaps the frequency could be improved but reminders are a good thing, the number of people who didn't complete the migration process (which I know will be for varying reasons) is worryingly high each time recent statistics are published.

thanks Catherine . I’ve been trying to come to terms with being deaf and adjusting to wearing hearing aids . The hospital think my loss of hearing is due to DV I had suffered for 16 years . I had some injuries to my head and now my hearing is is literally nothing in one of my ears .

Oh no sorry for this I can image the impact its having trying to adapt I can imagine physically and mental trauma I hope you have all the support you need xx Ah makes sense what kimmy said about reminders but I would say and explain you are vulnerable would there be any adjustments you'd habe to require if so inform them I will be informing them of my mental health and the vulnerability goodluck xx

Thier was a case actually of a gentleman who was hard of hearing and the job centre made no reasonable adjustments for him at all he suffered for a while he tool them to court and got 50 thousand compensation

oh wow . It’s been so difficult losing my hearing , like I hadn’t suffered enough with DV . Everything seems like it’s on loud speaker now , the hospital said it will take a while to adjust. Thanks for all your support on here . I will write it in my journal when I apply for UC about my hearing

ESA contribution based will I get a notification or letter saying I have switched to new style ESA after I have migrated or is it just done without ?
