It's how Labour talked about tackling sickness benefits before the election, they want to focus on prevention, rather than cure, which makes sense to me personally. It's a bit of a mammoth task!

I don't find that so ridiculous. I think one of the reasons the numbers claiming through ill health have gone up, co incided with NHS mismanagement over the lifetime of the previous Tory Government. I don't think that's a coincidence.

Tackle the root cause that just might help prevent more people becoming so ill, that they need to claim.

I've just read the ridiculous outline on the Government site. I can't believe somebody actually wrote that. I don't want to go through the thousands of conditions we all have that certainly could have been apparently prevented. For myself it would have been wonderful to prevent the Cervical and Lumbar Stenosis from causing incontinence and loss of feeling in upper and lower legs. Not to mention preventing the gentleman who harassed me for 18 months resulting in my PTSD and preventing the severe mental health issues that caused our Son to take his life.

Sorry for the rant but I'm sure they all sleep well at night not realising how worrying and ridiculous this all is.

It’s a horrible and worrying time for so many of us. If we could press a button and not have these conditions we’d press it. No one likes to live with disability or chronic illness, physical or mental. I’m also sorry about your son, that must be a hurt than you live with everyday. The problem is, they see it as wanting to reduce cost, which I get, but we’re also real people, not just numbers on a spreadsheet. Honestly though, if we were under Conservative or Reform right now this would be EVEN worse, of that I’m convinced.

Autism is genetic, too…sorry about that, government :)

As for the WCA, I suspect they're awaiting the outcome of the legal case. No point making concrete plans when they don't know how that might go yet.

    Hey folks,

As we're all sure people will want to talk about this today, I thought it best to keep everything to one discussion, so I'll be merging previous discussions into this one. 😊

Seems its not just the youngsters ..they seem to think fix everyone and they can and will work ..Not everyone is fixable..This will not work ..Yesterday Liz Kendell said women over 50 were adding to the benefits surge ..This is all cruel beyond belief

I understand and am concerned for my future as well. I am not fixable either! I have a long term health condition and almost a year ago was diagnosed with cancer. Mercifully I’m all clear now and on long term meds but it might return. Who knows? I’m 68. I refuse to live in abject fear but it would be unwise not to be very wary of what this and successive governments will do. I will gear myself up to fight these battles as they happen. That’s the best I can do.

Hi @BrainfartsHere can you please post the link to the article? Posting quotes with no full context of what else what was said can be misinterpreted. Thanks.

Doesn't it say if you can work you must but if you can't you can't
