I’m going to submit my claim for UC next week, I don’t want to wait any longer

My payments will be split into two separate payments at the end of the first assessment period 👍, I will get the two payments per month 👍 despite annoyingly getting conflicting pieces of info/advice.

I’m still going to apply for UC on the 6th Feb, and not the 5th, as originally intended. I am still fine with the 1 extra day wait before officially kick-starting the process, even in spite of my eagerness 😂 to get the claim under way.

It’ll soon be the 6th of February 📅🗓️📆, 2 weeks will soon past ⏰🕰️⏱️.
I’ll be doing the telephone claim nice and early so I can conformably get through to the HTC Service and do a three-way conference call. 🗣️💬🗯️💭

One piece of advice that they are right with ✅☑️✔️, they tell me that it is easier to get in contact with them in the morning 🌅. Phone lines can understandably get busier 📈as you get further into the day ⛅️. 📲📱☎️📞

I think I’ve seen you say on here a few times that UC helpline workers aren’t actually benefits advisors. I can understand that if they’re only working from a call centre 🏢 and just trained to read from a screen 🖥️.

CA Help to Claim workers, even though they don’t work for the DWP, they are more adequately trained to understand the UC/benefits system than those that work on the UC helpline.

I’ve had some very helpful, kind advisors 💪😀✅✔️☑️ from the HTC Service but there’s always going to be that possibility that you get someone that’ll give some advice/info that isn’t actually factually correct.

It’s all dependent on who you get when someone starts chatting with you on the phone 📞 / web chat 💬. It’s the luck of the draw.

As I planned, I got my claim in for Universal Credit last Thursday (6th Feb). It was a telephone 📱 claim and it was always going to be a phone claim as I didn’t want access to an online account. A week on, I had a phone appointment ☎️📞 today with someone from the JC to have a biographical interview.

Pleased 😀 to say that I passed it and now I don’t have to attend my local Job Centre to have a face to face appointment, my ID has been successfully verified. It’s all verified now. ✅☑️✔️

It’s not like I’d have had a problem going into the JC and having a ID 🪪 check done in person but I’ve avoided that. That’s a positive ✅✔️☑️. I don’t have a passport or a driving licence.

The next best thing I have with a photo of me on it is a disabled person’s bus 🚌 pass. I’d have taken that with some other bits that have my name and address on it. One of those pieces of documentation would’ve been a PIP/Personal Independence Payment entitlement letter. I’d have also taken my birthday certificate and my bank card.

My claimant commitment has been sorted as well, it was read out to me over the phone by the female member of staff from the JC and I just had to allow her to sign that claimant commitment on my behalf, to accept it on my behalf. 📝✍️

Of course, my claimant commitment doesn’t involve any work-related commitments. I don’t have to prepare or look for work. I just have to notify UC of any changes to my circumstances and that won’t happen. They’ve never changed in all the time I’ve been in the Income Related ESA Support Group (since 2014 📆🗓️📅).
The assessment periods for my claim are 6th - 5th. My first payment will come on 12 March, just under a month away.0 -
My request for twice monthly payments/two payments per month has also been submitted ✅✔️☑️, she did that for me over the telephone. I don’t think there’ll be any issues with a Case Manager agreeing to set that up for me. I come under Tier 1 factors anyway. I cannot budget ❌✖️🙅♂️🙅♀️🙅👎, I have limited budgeting skills.

I just hope that I
see no further
ESA payments 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡 after my run on payment next week. I claimed 7 days ago (6/2/2025), the day after the ESA payment I had last week (on Wednesday 5th).It’s down to ESA to get my claim CLOSED DOWN.

If I was to receive a further payment of ESA in early March, I’d have to notify UC via phone that I’ve had a further ESA payment so they can apply the necessary deduction to recover the money 💷💶. Any further ESA payment would be classified as an overpayment and that money is actually recoverable.

ESA, it’s your responsibility!
Get my claim CLOSED DOWN! You hear me ESA?! Get that claim of mine CLOSED DOWN!
😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡I don’t trust the computer systems as far as I could throw them. It wouldn’t be my fault if I was saw another ESA payment land in my bank account. 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

There’s this DWP Virtual Agent on the ESA phone line (0800 169 0310) and for the past week, it’s been telling me that my next ESA payment will be for the usual full amount £318.10 and it’ll be paid on the date that I expect to get my run on payment, next Wednesday (19/2/2025) 📆🗓️📅. I hope that’s true 👍✅✔️☑️. That would be great 😌 to receive the full amount that I’ve been getting every fortnight since last year.

What do you think, my fellow forum users? Do you think I can trust the info that the DWP Virtual Agent has been telling me? 🤔🧐💭
If my run payment does happen to be lower than the usual fortnightly amount £318.10💶💵💷, I wonder when it’ll actually be calculated? 🧮🤔🧐💭
