Council tax support

moved to Uc and been told that my council tax support is now only £5.35 pw instead of £27 pw. They have used the amount of UC I get pm to work this out but have not included my reductions of £350pm. I inform CTS that the amount is wrong and therefore a recalculation needs to be carried out, I was told it’s UC you need to speak to about this.
my question is is your monthly UC before reductions the amount used to calculate the CTS or after reductions?
Honestly 2 letters 3 days apart with different amounts of support. I’m so frustrated with this now. How can I pay an extra £20 per week on top of bedroom tax and still live.
Any advice would be great

it’s carers allowance as far as I can see on UC statement
Just can’t understand why I would pay this much
Thank you

sorry and £432 pm to landlord. Why would they work it out without taking into consideration the reductions?
Thanks

Unfortunately each local authority has different rules for CTR, it's really hard to advise on individual cases from here.
Some areas do treat UC differently to legacy benefits, especially if you have Transitional Protection on your claim, as that's an award over and above the standard maximum UC rates.
You could speak to a local welfare rights organisation.

Thanks for your reply.
I don’t have any Transitional Protection. Just crazy how they work the support out before reductions are taken off the UC I mean that’s a big difference every month

My council tax gone up from £25 per month to almost £50 with no change of circumstances. I have emailed my council today.

Each Council running their own scheme also means they can change criteria from year to year. Reduce help given etc.

it’s ridiculous obviously nobody can live for free & council tax needs paying but how much more can they stretch peoples finances?
Then you get passed from pillar to post.
how can they work out your support on an amount far higher than what you receive? There just always seems to be something lately to worry about

just an update. UC gave the council my real income amount & I still have to pay £22pw. So from £9 per month to £88!
I’ve applied for a reduction which I did not know existed for severely mentally impaired ( stroke & epilepsy)and also as I have an extension for wheelchair put on house, which they would of known as they provided it through DFC. why do they not tell you about these reductions? So will await a home visit which will be unnecessary. Nobody reads notes anymore or communicates it’s maddening.Any readers have expressed of this please?
Take Care
