Omg that’s amazing and the fact independents are adding their names means it’s more likely to be passed by the speaker so I read

Calls for Morgan McSweeney to be booted. Yes would be good if they went on the list

I'm not interested in hearsay; I'm speaking from my own personal experience, as I know many others here also are. But if you had a smooth application process and award, I'm glad. It's nice to know the system is working for some people, even if not for everyone. :)

Side note, when this story of the amendment first broke, ITV were reporting it, the Guardian etc soon picked it up. The BBC did not. It was not on the BBC site until the next morning, when they suddenly realised it was 'actually a story' and not just another irrelevance from the disability quarter (the section they hide away under several menus). Now it's top story on the BBC because it's become a BIG STORY…but the lack of interest in it initially is dispiriting.

Side note, the i are also reporting concessions are likely. It's behind a paywall so I can't read all of it but it does feel like they're starting to realise this is not just going away. I trust the i more than the Telegraph as it's not concealing far right propaganda in every paragraph.

One Labour MP has withdrawn her name, she's also apologised for doing so but has said that she doesn't want to lose the 'good parts' of the bill. Read into that what you will. It's her free choice though. I've also read she's been receiving abuse for it and while her withdrawal is frustrating, abuse is never okay.

On the question why the libs are not saying anything - they have said they'd oppose the bill, but they don't really need to do or say anything while Labour are doing it for them. I suspect several have signed the bill if the new signatories are from external parties.

I would think this makes it impossible for Lindsay Hoyle to not call the amendment, it's now cross-party and the fact even the DUP are supporting it speaks volumes.

It seems history is forgotten. Lots of people hated Harriet Harman for Gordon Brown. Keith Starmer is a fraud. Yet Nigel is worse.

Starmer needs to take responsibility and stop throwing people under the bus . Few like him and no one voted for him they just had no one else . And respected around the world 😂. He’s a laughing stock . If he’s lived abroad great they can have him . I really hope this fails and he has to go . And the rest of the anti disabled mob . 🤞🙏

Jesscia Elgot reporting on X this evening.

EXC - No10 is set to offer concessions to Labour rebels on welfare. Talks are ongoing but changes could be made to the Pip reforms.A number of cabinet ministers are now said to believe the bill has no chance of passing in its current form.Story with @kiranstacey @PippaCrerar

Our story tonight amid splits at the top of government over how to handle the welfare rebellion.“There is a camp for pulling it, a camp for concession and a small but insane camp for ploughing on," says one source.

Personally would rather see the bill scrapped. Goodness knows what concessions the government are offering.

A few people are saying on Benefits & Work that Tory MP Edward Leigh has confirmed that he's voting for the cuts and that the Tories are voting for the cuts.

But none of them is providing any evidence on where he has confirmed this, and I couldn't find it via Google either!

"but has said that she doesn't want to lose the 'good parts' of the bill."

We're the prime target of this bill and don't see any good parts in it.

Hence why I put it in inverted commas. Her words, not mine.

I can't even see how this bill could be watered down, as even the purported 3pts based scoring system is as destructive as the 4pts one.

Making the PIP assessment for both sickness and disability benefits would have a crucial impact on the number of people on LCWRA/the health element of the UC, as, to me, these would be hit the hardest, particularly those who do not receive PIP, which includes me.

Merging the two assessments is a monumental mistake.

When the Tories proposed the merge, Labour were furious, shouting that the two assessments were meant to assess two different things. But they're now fighting to legislate the exact same thing that they were opposing about a year ago! Cruelty at its finest!

Hi everyone - can I please say a few things. I hope you know I have everyone's best interests at heart, & now more than ever nothing should divide us.

About PIP assessors not having medical knowledge - well they're not Drs, but they're called Healthcare Professionals for a reason; most are nurses, with some physios & paramedics. As a physio much of my studies were at the same level as a medical student (apart from pathology), & we were perhaps fortunate in also having the same lectures on neuroanatomy & neurophysiology given by Drs as they did.

However, as I've said before on the forum, even if you had assessments done by Drs, then they can't possibly know everything. I know I've had the better of more than one consultant, but that's because I feel I know an awful lot about one tiny 'bit' of medical knowledge.

Even with the consultants you see, they may be at the top of their pinnacle in their specialised understanding, but may fail to see the significance if you have something else going on, which was why I used to wish I could get several consultants all talking to each other in the same room about our family's disorder! I'm sure many of you might have felt the same.

About assessors 'lying,' I have no wish to upset anyone, but this is not my personal experience, tho I could mutter about my PIP decision letter which kept repeating that I didn't see a 'physio specialist!' No, this is what I learnt from a Welfare Rights Officer (who helped thousands of people with benefit tribunals, as well as an awful lot of our members some time ago). He said that you can't say that an assessor has lied, because you have no way of proving their intent. Assessors listen to what you say, then they're there to give their opinion (as far as the PIP 'tick box exercise' will allow them to do). He knew, as do many of us, that assessor's get things wrong, but legally, we can't 'prove' they lie.

We have many members join the forum because they've had difficulty with PIP, UC & other benefits. Altho there's lots of info on the internet, it's knowing where to look in the first place. This is always something that I hope this forum can often do in trying to give clear guidance, with links whenever possible, to help members with their benefit queries in the best way possible. Like @michael57 - I hope I look at both sides of things too, & I don't think his view was negative.

Now @Merlin64 has just joined & has received a PIP form different to one they've received before. It may have been unfortunate to say that this was 'aimed at the most severely disabled,' but how were they supposed to know? I gave a link to the review form which just came out in Nov last year, tho I don't know if that's what they received as we've only had a few members mention they got one like this comparitively recently when reviewed. We however know that any proposed changes to PIP won't happen until 2026. They joined being concerned that they may lose their PIP, so thinking about that here's my last comment:

Most important in this forum is the support we offer one another. We're all a bit frazzled at the moment, but let's hold onto that support. 'United we stand….'

P.S. My son's Bedlington terrier thinks he's the best dog @Ranald - he's a true 'hang dawg' as he likes to lie on the sofa, or on me, with his head hanging down!
