Thank you Bella ,
I also wouldn’t be surprised if Tory votes it down. I watched the shadow dwp minister this morning saying they made the offer of support but it’s not going far enough. He said it’s the young with MH they want to support in work . I could be wrong but I think Tory’s keeping their cards close to their chests ready to vote against. Just my opinion

Thank you waylander . I also think Tory’s may vote against as I saw on YouTube this morning they don’t think this goes far enough

I know but if you we didn’t come into this forum or others like it we wouldn’t hear anything about it changing for us all 2028. Even YouTube hasn’t mentioned it

Surely the answer to "young people with mental health problems" that the Tories and co whine on about is more investment into NHS mental health services to get to the root of the problems?
Instead we have this "mental illness is the new bad back" which is dangerous rhetoric, if we ignore mental illnesses then it will put the safety of the public at risk too but oh well as long as the Right Wing get their way.

And they’re probably putting neurodivergent in the same category even though there aren’t proper send provisions then penalising them when they’re not able to work in future
2 -
Thank you but I am not at all confused.

Soon, I think they are still arm-twisting to avoid watering down these reforms any further.

“Kendall to set out welfare changes as modelling suggests 150,000 may be pushed into poverty”
Their own models!
What have we turned into. 😔
and Liebour MPs happy to vote in favour of this?
then you have:Tom Pollard
, head of social policy at the New Economics Foundation thinktank, says that the DWP’s estimate that its welfare cuts will push an extra 150,000 people into poverty is an underestimate.
The impact of actual changes happening in the real world is likely to be closer to 250k people pushed into poverty

Just read it thanks. But does not really guarantee that people who come to the end of their claim and go for a review will not be affected unless I have missed something. I am hearing lots of experts who are saying it is a play on words and that you will not be affected now but could be when your claim comes to an end

IMO it doesn’t matter what they say now/concessions, the whole bill needs to be scrapped and start again from scratch with the disabled community.
You can’t have a person becoming disabled in 2027 who will live in poverty for the rest of his/her life. It’s criminal.

What, like Richard Madeley talking to Gavin (fireplace salesman of the year) Williamson?

The minor issue seems to be the revised PIP descriptors will apply to all claimants, current and new. But I don't think we can create a two-tier system based on date claim.

if they are planning on changing the descriptors then there’s no need for this bill.
Just start working on that alongside the disabled community.

Work on the review of PIP assessments/descriptors will conclude in autumn this year, as per written statement from Liz Kendall.

Changing the assessments/descriptors forms part of the reform bill. They need to pass this in order to advance whatever they want to do later.
