Question about wheelchair/cushion set up

I was very fortunate to get charity funding for a Progeo wheelchair which has changed my life as my previous one was too big and heavy. When I picked it up I bought the cheapest cushion which was okay but not perfect. I have since had a cushion supplied by the NHS and am starting to get low back pain. I'm not sure whether I should go back to my wheelchair dealer who is excellent but not local or if the NHS would help. I don't know if the cushion is unsuitable for me - it does have a lot more bulk at the front than the back which has almost none. Or if I would need the seat of my chair adjusted. I would be very grateful for any advice.

Hello @littleredhen
If the NHS cannot help, you can buy a cushion from this company https://www.completecareshop.co.uk/wheelchairs/wheelchair-cushions/
Regarding wheelchair adjustments, I recommend getting in contact with the dealer again.0 -
Thank you. It's hard because I know it was set up correctly for me initially but the cushion has changed things.0

That link should help. No problem!0

Call the wheelchair dealer tomorrow, and see what he says. If it is the cushion, buy a new one. But just in case, take notes on the seat dimensions and measurements.0

Hi @littleredhen. I'm sorry you're finding some discomfort with your chair since changing to a new cushion. It might be worth giving the wheelchair dealer a call to ask what they would recommend. They may say it needs adjusting or may have recommendations for other cushions etc.
Let us know how you get on once you've spoken to them.0 -
Thank you Adrian. I have emailed my dealer, just waiting to hear back now.0

Hi @littleredhen I have a Progeo too, (Duke Carbon). I actually had similar issues, although I didn't buy a new cushion when I bought the chair (which I should have). I'm not going to blame the chair mine is great, but its important to get your set up right, including the tension of your backrest,, your wheel height and seat angle as well as the right cushion. 18 months on and I am still trying new stuff out with mine. Depending on what chair you have and how adjustable it is, I would hope you will be able to find the right balance for you. If you have any general questions, I will try to help, but as @April2018mom suggests I would call the dealer that sold the chair too, they are generally pretty expert at these things.2

I'd just go back to the dealer and get them to sort the seat out. Might be you've just made your self higher with the cushion and it's pushed everything else out of lone
Also BIG congrats. On your chair!2 -
Thank you Matt. Progeo are good, aren't they? I have a Joker R2. I am talking with the dealer and have sent a photo so he can see how I'm sitting.2

Thank you mossycow for the congrats :-D I think you're right that I'm sitting higher.0
