Note from moderator - this thread was formally named "Don't forget to vote" but the title has been updated to reflect the passing of voting day. This thread can now be used to discuss the outcomes of the election.

Will you be voting today? It's important that you have your say if local elections are going on in your area.

Here are some important points Scope have put together:

You have the right to vote

No one should deny you this.

You can ask for assistance

You can ask the official in charge of the polling station, a personal assistant, or a close family member who is over 18 to mark your ballot for you if you need assistance.

You can ask for a specialised device if you have a visual impairment

If you have a visual impairment, you can ask for a small, specialised device to mark your ballot paper privately.

Polling stations should be accessible

If yours is not, you can get the official in charge of the polling station to bring your ballot paper to you.

Lost your polling card?

Don't worry, you don't need to take it with you. For information about your polling station, check-out the Where Do I Vote? website.

I do all my voting by post these days, which makes things even more safe and convenient during the pandemic.

True, the ballot paper is really small and I can't read it without assistive aids, but I'm happy doing it this way.

I have voted in every single election since 1979, both national and local, but this year I haven't voted, to be honest i'm disgusted by politics in this country, I was quite active politically in the 1990's but fell out with Labour over the Iraq war and left the party, I could never ever vote tory, and recently joined the co-operative party but they had no candidates in our area. So I didn't vote.
One thing i've read today is that most of the results won't be announced until over the weekend due to covid, I'm just hoping that voters in Scotland have voted in big numbers for the SNP and that they then get another go at independence.
I am a person with epilepsy not an epileptic, my illness doesn't define me.
