Just found out that the residential home at my son's school is closing so our respite care package is stopping ?? feeling cross, frustrated and upset and abandoned!
H has very complex physical, mental and health needs and overnight residential care has been an absolute lifeline for us as a family.
Social worker is looking at other options but we're not feeling very positive. So just needed a little rant!

Welcome to the community @andersf :)

I'm sorry to hear that your respite care package is ending. You're absolutely welcome to rant here whenever you need.

Have you had any communication from the school about ideas for alternative provision? Or an explanation for why this is happening?

From having a quick look online, there do seem to be some other options out there, so hopefully your social worker will be able to find something suitable. In the meantime, do you have much support from friends or family? Is there anyone else who'd be able to care for your son if you were to need a break?

Just so that you're aware: I've moved your post into our parents and carers category.
