Hello everyone. Been reading all your comments on mandory decision for pip. I am at the moment waiting for a mandory decision after being turned down for pip for my mental health. I have suffered with anxiety and depression for many years. The last 2 years have been hell and I'm suffering big time and need a lot of help and support. Going through the MR isn't helping my mental health. Any advice would be gratefully received. Take care

Hello @susie121 and a warm welcome to the community from me too.

I'm sorry to hear that the mandatory reconsideration process isn't helping your mental health.  Do you have much support from your GP, a care team or family and friends with your anxiety and depression?  How are you coping?

I realise the wait to hear back about benefits decisions isn't an easy one, but I hope our members have reassured you that the success rate has improved and we'd also be hear to support you whichever way the decision goes.

Take care and please do keep us posted with how you're feeling or any questions you might have.

Thank you all for your lovely messages of support your very kind thank you. I'm still trying to figure out how things work on here as I'm new to it and not very technically minded ? it's really good to find someone to talk to and who understands!

And thank you for your kind reply @susie121 - please just say if you have any problems working things out with the forum; we were all new here once, & this was the first forum I'd ever been on! Perhaps give our 'Coffee lounge' a go for chat about many things, & some good word games. You can find a link to this at the top of this page, or try clicking on this link: https://forum.scope.org.uk/categories/coffee-lounge

    Hi @susie121

Ahh, I'm sorry you didn't sleep so well.  That can unfortunately add to our anxiety levels, I really do empathise.  Sometimes, if I wake up in the night I find making a hot drink and reading a little helps me drop back off.

Walks are very soothing so enjoy the one with your husband.  Also, maybe this Self-care for anxiety resource from MIND will help give you some coping strategies to better manage how you're feeling.

Is your GP aware of your anxiety and have you spoken to them about it recently?  If not, would that be something you'd feel comfortable doing?

    Good morning Cher.
My GP is aware of my anxiety and I have been in touch with her recently explaining how my anxiety is getting worse. The doctor has prescribed some medication I can take when the anxiety is really bad. I am already on medication for anxiety and depression I take mirtzapine every night. I will have a look at these link you sent me thank you. I've suffered with my mental health for many years and try my best to cope with it the best I can. But some days it's so difficult! I have support from family and friends which I am really grateful for. Thank you again for your response

Hi @susie121. I’m also waiting on MR, and it’s an incredibly stressful process to go through. I thought the pip form and assessment was bad enough!! Hope you manage to take your mind off it for a few hours today. Good luck with your MR.

I am glad to hear that you have a supportive network of people around you, and that you have been in contact with your GP about your mental health. Can anyone tell me if the DWP notify you when they've received your mandatory reconsideration please. I sent mine off about 3 weeks ago but haven't heard anything yet.

    Morning torijayne.
Still not heard anything yet ? getting more and more anxious by the day! I posted it all off on the 8th August. People are saying it can take up to 10 weeks so hopefully I should hear something soon. Just hope it's good news as I don't think I could cope with a tribunal not well enough. Thank you so much for getting in touch. Are you waiting to?

Well I really hope it goes in your favour.
Yes I am. I suffer with osteoarthritis, severe anxiety & depression on meds for all
My assessor just told lies basically.
Everything g I said in the assessment was not on the report.
I’ve put in MR yesterday. So we will see it’s just very stressful isn’t it
no need to put people through this.
it’s a long process I really hope you get a good outcome

Sorry to hear your going through stressful time as well. Just wish the assessor and the decision maker could just get in the head of someone who suffers with anxiety and depression like we both do and see how they would cope with getting through the day! Some days I don't want to even get out of bed as can't face the day! Find most things really difficult these days. I've suffered with anxiety and depression for many years now but the last 2 years it has been really hard. I've had to give up work as can't cope with it etc. Just wish I could turn clock back and be able to do things for myself instead of relying on other people. Really hope you have some good news to.take care
