I amended my reply slightly because it seemed to me, reading the guidance, that the gap from decision to first PIP payment could be greater than 7 weeks (there will be a DLA payment in between).
Could you please give me the link where it mentions 7 weeks?
I can't see it on your original link
That's because, as I say, I edited my reply and I took the reference to 7 weeks out. There is no reference to 7 weeks in the guidance which is why, as I read it, the gap between decision and first PIP payment could be greater than 7 weeks.

So it could be less as well
    You are just guessing

It's not less than 7 weeks based on many other members here. As advised, you will get a final DLA payment once the PIP desision is made. If successfully awarded your first PIP payment will be about 4 weeks after the final DLA payment.
We are trying to help you but every time we hit a brick wall and start going round in circles.

I now have my KAFO full leg brace (After waiting almost 6 years for one) - it does help me to walk on the flat (it has a fixed ankle joint, so no stairs) - it also rubs on my thigh and shin
Should I update DWP to let them know ?
My GP is not yet aware and I didn't put Orthotics contact details down on my PIP application form.
I should receive 12 points mobility in any case - since I am unable to walk 20 metres without the KAFO - even with the help of someone else.
The rule says "Individuals who cannot stand and move 20 metres, in a safe and reliable way, will receive 12 points and therefore the enhanced rate of the mobility component regardless of whether they need an aid or appliance"

No, you do not need to update PIP. You simply tell them during the assessment because most have them. If we all rang DWP everytime a changed happened like this then the backlogs would be even longer than they already are.
As for the mobility, haven't we been here before? Stairs/steps are not considered with mobility.

Thanks - the important part is that I should receive 12 points mobility in any case - since I am unable to walk 20 metres without the KAFO - even with the help of someone else.
The rule says "Individuals who cannot stand and move 20 metres, in a safe and reliable way, will receive 12 points and therefore the enhanced rate of the mobility component regardless of whether they need an aid or appliance"
Before you say "it depends on the assessor"
NO IT DOESN'T - Rules are not made to be broken

Where are you quoting from? That's not what the descriptor says
    https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2013/377/schedule/1
    descriptor e says
"Can stand and then move more than 1 metre but no more than 20 metres, either aided or unaided."

I seem to recall this has been discussed at length before.

Have you actually seen the form?
What does it say on that?

Can't see the words you put in quote marks in any of those locations.
However, I recall this was discussed at length in a previous thread and there was still a difference of opinion at the end of that. It seems exceedingly unlikely that further discussion will produce a different result. Good luck with your claim.

Thanks I don't need "luck" - I just need someone who understands DWP rules and follows them..

Again we are going round in circles, exactly like we were when you last talked about this activity.

I understood you perfectly thanks. Your understanding of this descriptor is incorrect.

Hi @Wibbles :) Would you be able to explain to us what you don't feel as though we're understanding? That may help us to clear up any misunderstandings there might still be.

It was a (very long) previous thread about how to interpret the PIP descriptor on Moving Around. There is nothing to be gained, in my opinion, by going through it all again.

From PIP Handbook (from DWP's own hand)

And from the application form itself

"If you use a wheelchair or mobility scooter, "Please answer the question by telling us how far you can stand and move WITHOUT using it"

I cant even stand and move 20 metres
So thats definitely 12 points on mobility
