Hi felling so down right now no matter Which way I turn I can’t keep my head above water the place I’ve moved into the money that you have to pay each month is literally putting Is stress on me because I’m using every penny I’ve got just paying monthly I mean is it worth it not really but I need the personal care and help to get dressed so would I be better off going out and getting a private carer or would it be more expensive than what I’m paying now I just feel like I’m swimming around in a circle and drowning

Oh @Ashvinney that's so hard what a difficult situation. Have you you looked into how much a private carer would cost and doyou need them 24/7 like a live in carer?
The amount you pay for this place, sorry if I'm being stupid, but is it a set price or do they base it on your income?1 -
No it's in my flat to I am on benefit and I am paying them most of the money I get to live not much to myself and it's gone up more0

Hello again @Ashvinney I'm sorry to hear about the impact that the costs of care are having on your mental health. Is this something you've spoken to your GP or other specialists about?
I know I'm asking a lot of questions too, but it would be helpful to know what benefits you're on, in case you might not be getting everything you're entitled to? I think you're based in Scotland, is that right?0 -

According to another thread the OP is claiming Income Related ESA, which includes the SDP because they live alone. Also Enhanced for both parts of PIP. I believe they are also claiming help with their rent through housing benefit. Seems like they are receiving everything they are entitled to. See thread here. https://forum.scope.org.uk/discussion/89110/esa-income-related-entitlement#latest

Thank you for that information @poppy123456
In that case, as others have also mentioned, it might be worth researching the cost of a private carer. @Ashvinney do you have friends or family who could help look into this with you? Sharing the task might help make it feel less stressful.

Yes my benefits are right I get all I can I am paying them all my pip and some off ESA. I did speak to people who did my assessment for this places I pay them 800 a mouth .when I lived in my house my can manger did not charge me I got full payment from them. so I did not have to pay for care . Moved here now my head just above water they are getting most of it there saying unless my Financial Situation changes there’s nothing they can do .they can’t give me a reassessment so I’m really considering to leave having the work done. and just try and find somewhere else to live😞0
