Hello,
New here and looking for some guidance.
I understand the proposed changes in April 2026 means that, from April 2026, those currently on LCWRA will receive a "Health Element" that's equal to what they currently receive as a topup (currently around £408 a month)
However, what will happens to those who are on LCW (not LCWRA) as of April 2026 under the proposed changes? Those on LCW currently receive something like an additional £150 per month on top of the standard allowance. What happens to this additional amount for LCW come April 2026?
I am asking because the green paper is very clear that those on LCWRA will transition into receiving the same topup payments under the new Health Element. However, it seems to be silent on whether this happens for LCW as well. What do prior LCW recipients they get in April 2026?
Any clarification would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes I am in the same boat . I get daily living by multiple 2 points but no 4 point scores . Although I believe I should of got 4 points in a certain activity . I didn't dispute for fear I'd lose the lot .

I can't make head nor tail of it, ESA CB changing (for new claimants) ????? PIP points changing so no matter how many points you get you can't have it unless you get 4 points on one question of daily living. I give up I only get CB ESA and PIP and would not qualify for UC. Face to face I just cannot do and I will not be going to any jobcentre half **** and smelling of urine because of my incontinece and will no longer have a carer to help wash or dress my lower body if PIP stops even if I could do face to face for any amount of money. I really do despair

Hi, I've tried to read through some of these posts and the green paper but it's just overwhelming and making my anxiety even worse. From what I can understand, as I am on contribution based Esa from 2018 (not sure if it's legacy Esa or ns Esa as i don't really understand it) then this means I will be time limited and then lose my money as I have some savings. I'm also on indefinate Dla and haven't been moved over to pip yet, so what does that mean for me? It seems to me that I will lose out no matter what I do now. Can someone please help to clarify what will happen. Thanks.

Same here.

as a few of us have suggested from reading it, it seems like the new benefit/time limited aspect of it is for any new claimants.

Its so vague.
I read the green paper but its lengthy and I find it hard to retain the information
We need some clarity on these matters.

They're removing WCA but introducing new assessments to whittle out and bully the most vulnerable who can't speak up for themselves. There was me thinking voting labour would mean no more assessments at all.

Agreed, finding this hard to get my head around

I note that in order to collect taxes, they do not send tax collectors to each taxpayer.

If you pass the new assessment, if not you will have to probably reapply and be a new claimant just like they want.

she was horrific. I didn’t suspect the cons wanted even worse . Bad yes but not worse .

The Trussell trust and the MS society have expressed their disgust on GB news.

People tell me that all the time when I write about my life on sites like this. I feel like this is only me living a miserable, lonely experience, but the more you engage with others online you realise our condition is shared with many others too.
If someone thinks I (or anyone else like us) would willingly choose this sad and lonely life just to avoid having to work, you've gotta be crazy.
I try to explain it like this to people who lead relatively normal lives:
imagine a life without all the things that make you happy… friendships, a partner, maybe children, independence, your own home, travel, going to events & socializing eating out at restaurants, etc. Now think about all the things that you find difficult in life or annoying. I have none of the joys but many/most of all the same problems. Do you think not having to go out and work is really such an incredible treat that you would sacrifice everything else good you've got going on to sit at home alone all day?

it was meant to be just a normal UC reassessment that could have been face to face or phone. But in the end they decided they had enough evidence to just do a paper based assessment.

I guess alot more people will be appealing in the future .

yup, an unbelievably unpleasant individual.

Ok so i have had a read and hopefully can help in some way as i think i got my head around it
- nothings gonna change till October 2026 so a good 1.5 years before the changes come into effect
- LCWRA payments frozen - Meaning that they will not increase inline with inflation So the amount you see today will be the same up to 2028. Also for new claimants of LCWRA from next year, the rate will reduce to £50 per week, doesn't change for existing people, however didn't read anything about reassessments so not sure about that.
- WCA will be scrapped in 2028. meaning there will be 1 assessment for both PIP & LCWRA.
- Removing the non work search criteria - So they're thinking about removing this aspect. Even if you have LCWRA & Enhanced pip, they may ask you to contribute something to getting your benefit payments, So like training or education. things like that. None of this just pay you and never contact you again based from what i saw/read
One thing everyone has to remember is, this needs to pass LAW. So the Legal system may look at this and think "this is illegal" which they have done in the past with changes made with the government "Rwanda for example"
I thin they're trying to root out the lazy from the genuine sick and ill healthed, alot of people claim benefits for every day conditions "normal levels or every day levels of anxiety and/or depression for example".
People need to remember that PIP is designed to help you with your conditions. But a lot of people use it for things that aren't related to their illnesses (I know people that use it to pay for their brand new car every year which isnt mobility scheme) which isn't what PIP is designed for.
Alot will change before it's made into LAW. Just keep your eye out but i don't think anyone can tell you the Exact changes, only ideas and speculation at this point.7 -
