Is it possible to download an app on your phone, some GP's offer online services now where you can book appointments in advance. I am so sorry you are unable to get appointments I can't imagine how hard it must be for you and worrying. I am in South Yorkshire and I can't say a bad word about my GP they are really good but I know it isn't the case everywhere in the UK ( it should be, but isn't and the disparity in care is so unfair ) my Mum and Sister live in London and my mum really struggles to get appointments despite having poorly controlled diabetes and issues associated with it and ends up going to the walk in centre instead. I only mention the app as my mum recently got it for her practice and can now book appointments usually a few weeks in advance.

Hi Sarah , sorry but I have no idea how to . But if you type in the justice journals youβll find her . She also gave a deep dive about the pip changes .

No problem , I did type it in but it isn't coming up . I'll keep looking thank you .

Thanks @gamer1 .
I respect everyoneβs opinions, but I personally felt that Reform UKβs manifesto on disability benefits was one of the worst. π

For anyone wondering what Reform's manifesto had to say about disability/benefits. Here you go, excerpts from B&W site:
Reform UK election manifesto: welfare benefits promises
Β Published: 17 June 2024
Reform UK has published its manifesto today.Β It has less than half a page of text on benefits, under the headingΒ
βThe Benefits System is BrokenβΒ and featuring a slogan of βIn Britain, if you can work, you must work.βOn PIP and the WCA, Reform says:Β
Face to Face, Not Remote Assessments for BenefitsPersonal Independence Payment and Work Capability Assessment should be face to face. We will require independent medical assessments to prove eligibility for payments. Those registered with severe disabilities or serious long-term illnesses would be exempt from regular checks. When benefits and work carried out aΒ poll of readers two years agoΒ on what sort of PIP assessment they would prefer, the results were:
- Paper 59%Β
- Phone 20%
- Face-to-face 20%
- Video 1%
So this is a move that would be unpopular with the majority of Benefits and Work readers
The remainder of the text is devoted to raising the starting point for tax to Β£20,000 a year and an aimΒ
βMotivate up to 2 million People Back to Workβ.Reform say that:
βReforms to benefit support and training will help people back into work. Particular focus on 16-34 year olds. Employment is critical to improving mental health. Tax relief for businesses that undertake apprenticeships.βThe manifesto goes on to warn that:
βAll job seekers and those fit to work must find employment within 4 months or accept a job after 2 offers. Otherwise, benefits are withdrawn.βYou canΒ download a copy of Reform UKβs manifesto from this link.

Kernowdamo also has a good video out. Heβs a green councillor and a carer

Thanks @Catherine21 .The reason I mentioned it is because I genuinely see no other way to ensure that disabled and vulnerable people are properly supported. Itβs tough to trust any major political party on its own. We need strong leadership and a massive movement to push this forward.
But how ??? is the curious questionβ¦..π€π€

I agree. At least they are transparent about it unlike Labour who had nothing in their manifesto about it.

Thatβs true, @gamer1
LIEBOUR (as some of our members refer to them) are truly the party of lies.
What an awful bunch theyβve turned out to be π

If LCWRA is going to be tied with PIP, what will happen to all the people who are still on DLA?

If only we could make that happen!! ππ
Loathsome Liz would never live it down. π€

I think we're all doing the best we can by writing to our MP's, responding to the green paper and signing petitions to oppose these changes. Hopefully our voices will be heard. That's all that we can do. Who knows whether these proposals will eventually be watered down. If the proposals go ahead as planned I think it'll take the government time to implement it all. I have now accepted these proposals are going to happen. If any of these proposals don't happen or are hopefully watered down I'll take as a bonus.

Anything that doesn't happen or is watered down I'm going to take it as a bonus. I think it's wise to take breaks from forums, social media, msm. It's important for our MH. This is going to be played out in the media for the next number of months.

Reassessed for the new PIP? Would they leave DLA alone, I think they will reassess it.

oh wow thatβs good news ππ€

Absolutely worried day and night. Can't sleep and just can't understand how they can get away with what they're doing. It seems nothing will stop them as they're hell bent on the welfare disabilty cuts. They don't seem to have a clue how devastating the effects will be on disabled people and the long term sick with chronic health conditions. Just as I have been awarded PIP, after 2 years of appealing, the rug is being pulled from under my feet. It's like Saturn is laughing just when life is made a little more bearable. I always feel ashamed of my health conditions as my own family never believed or accepted them so I feel embarrassed yet I feel absolute empathy for anyone else.
They're stigmatising amd dehumanising us and doing their damn hardest to inflict more hardship and immeasurable suffering. HOW is this allowed??? It seems that no amount of protesting is making any difference..they turn a blind eye and are deaf to all pleas. I feel sickened by it as the results will be catastrophic for us all.

Perhaps I'm the last to read this but it's really upset me:
The Case of Disabled vs Disabled. It's one reason we're such easy prey.
1 -
Certainly, why not? They are really driven politicians.
Like you Iβm also clueless about politics, but Iβm passionate about people and disabilities. We need someone really fierce and bold to lead a movement that shakes up Parliament.
It is clear that the current government is not just clueless about disabled people. They seem completely out of touch with everything a government should be doing for its people. Every time they speak, they seem more focused on blaming previous governments, saying things like we inherited this or we inherited that, instead of taking responsibility and making real changes. It is a frustrating and ego-driven approach.0
