Green Paper Discussion (from 24th March, 2025)

Improperly calling them "pips" as if it were some weird apple-related political weapon…Obvious red flag here…
I noticed that comment too, but there's zero fraud in PIP. And I didn't like the "people will just claim for more serious benefits" as if all PIP claims were fraudulent from the start…With regard to keeping medical records up to date, fine, if you have a medical related disability. Autism isn't one. There is no support in my area for autistic people like me, either - all the support I need I have to rely on from family or friends. Keeping a record is not possible because the services do not exist here.
The last time I had an actual autism worker/mentor was when I was studying, but all the ones that used to be in my area got cut. You only get support for autism now if you are a child or have a co-occurring learning disability. Which is in some ways understandable but doesn't help me much :/

Saw this on X. James Taylor's (Scope) page. I take it the government are not going to wait for the Green Paper responses. It also seems MP's are going to vote on this before we hear from Britain's Economic Watchdog who will not publish the employment impact of these plans until October 2025. (The Guardian).😲

Also James Taylor Scope is this on X as well.
CONFIRMED: Universal Credit and PIP cuts to be put forward in a Bill by Government soon.

Labour pulled this **** with the AI consultation, so not a surprise. This is just one of many reasons filling in consultations wastes time, and people should respect themselves and not d them. they're like petitions.
Nadine Dorries said it best. The government already made their decsions are noyl do the consultation because they have to (both legaly and to give the illusion of democracy).

Another MP who doesn't live in the real world - on BBC website this morning
The business secretary (Jonathan Reynolds):
Reynolds cites minimum wage and pension increases
Reynolds is now pressed on when people will feel better off.
"They are getting better off," Reynolds says - the government is not only making wages higher, but introducing other measures including free breakfast clubs, freezing fuel duty and triple-lock pensions, he says.
At the heart of it, he says, is "running an economy soundly".
He acknowledges there are real pressures on finances, but they are "starting to see the decisions the government has made make people better off".
He's then asked specifically about the government cutting winter fuel payments and welfare eligibility.
Reynolds says the government is committed to making everyone feel better off, and protecting working people.

£500 better of under labour they say ……
i'm £500 worse off just with my council tax bill because the east riding of yorkshire council have decided that ESA is now means tested so i only receive a 50% reduction as opposed to a 75% reduction as in previous years.

Hi @Nightcity, knew you'd still be fighting like hell! 👍

Hi. Its from benefitsandwork.co.uk. if you read through it it looks like the government are trying to get everything sorted by May so they can rush the changes through without proper consultation

So am I and everyone else. This is shocking, but that's what it's looking like

I hope to god somebody's going to take legal action. What they're doing is so wrong

Starmer is putting the changes to a vote which means it will become the law of the land, I guess the Lords could amend the changes but I'm not sure.

Hi Guys! As this is my first post since joining i hate for it to be negative, but I really don't think petitions and emails to your local Mp are going to work. Kier and Co have absolutely no morals whatsoever and will do everything they can to push it through. Charities and the like need to be alot more vocal via social media instead of sitting meakly in the corner telling us to sign petitions. Maybe behind closed doors they are doing more? But all I see on this forum and elsewhere is people( I include myself)with different disabilities suffering mental and physical anguish not knowing what the hell is going on and wondering If they are going to forced into further poverty. It's heartbreaking 💔 This gov is truly evil.

Thing is this "4 point rule" surely would require a consultation? We know their Green Paper will get challenged.

This gets worse by the day. What an evil diabolical government this is

This is whats wriiten on Benefits & Work, I dont know where they got it from but there must be something in it for them to post it.
There are growing reports that Labour aim to introduce a bill in May and, if it certified as a money bill, the Lords will not be able to amend or delay it for more than a month, meaning the PIP and UC cuts could be on the statute book by the end of July, ready to be implemented next year.

They will do anything they can get away with. We are worse than rubbish to them. People need to get out and protest and cause a problem. It is the only way they might listen.
