"Was the announcement just for the headlines to appeal to those who think disabled people are living off the state? How can the Prime Minister, who talks so deeply of his mother's health conditions, and the Deputy Prime Minister, whose family was on benefits, be so two-faced? I work 12 hours a week, and at work I hear people talk, saying things like, 'It's about time they got them to work and stopped scrounging.' I just sit there and think this is what it's about: fueling people's anger and hate towards disabled people. Disabled people are not going to be supported in jobs, and this 'try before you take the job' idea is just an unrealistic concept dreamt up by people who have never had a disability or understood disability."

MW, I have not once mentioned PIP because this isn't about PIP!
I'm talking about ESA specifically and working-age benefits. It's critical to understand what he did in 2011, yes, or I wouldn't be doing this to myself - trying to explain why it matters all these years later and it does!
It matters that under UC, we become 'disabled job-seekers'. It matters that Contribution-based benefits will fold. All of this written into the 2012 Welfare Reform Act.
When you've re-examined those 2011 'amended' ESA regulations, come back and tell me I'm wrong. But you clearly haven't!
What the Tories did (with help) between 2010 and 2015 to trash the protections written into the Welfare Reform Act 2007 still needs to be understood and challenged!

worried, his Party isn't in power but he still rules the roost. Labour's ex-W&P Ministers are desperate to bury his deception under this confected chaos and so far, it seems to be working.

Hi , have you got the Reform proposal form please ?

We can try to be strong , but when we lose everything which would be in my case by my home because if i lose pip carers etc , that's it we will be out on the street .

It is really depressing and I fear that these changes are going to be pushed through. All parties seem to be in agreement.

I'm doomed then .

it's not looking good in my opinion …..
hopefully as the results come in from the local elections that'll cause unrest within labour as the votes will speak volumes about their policies and maybe just maybe a rethink my arise or even a rebellion against Starmer & Co …
also i do believe legal challenges will be made but will these be made in time to stop the roll out of said cuts ?

So am I doomed.

I have a few questions
Will we be able to see the outcome from the feedback given to the green paper and individual responses by email?
Am I right in thinking the King has to sign this off to be law if so should I be writing to the king?

I am trying to find hope today for these upcoming changes and I am not getting anywhere. Everyone tell me to just shut off and don't think about it.

I will definetely lose my home if this goes ahead and I will be starving on the streets
I know this would happen to so many of us.

I wonder how Labour will do in the local elections in May?? Not very well I hope.

No, the WCA stays the same until it is scrapped in 2028
1 -
Yes, but for how long will it remain voluntary? I am worried that all benefits will soon come with mandatory engagement with work coaches attached.

Someone quoted it a few posts up.
Basically it says for fit and healthy a massive clamp down, but for those on health related benefits the only change would be all assessments are face to face and increased intensity. Nothing about descriptors, eligibility changes.
