Exactly. Isn't it just the same problem, reworded.

I hope most of the rebel MPs still oppose but I'm worried most will accept this. Terrible.

Robert Peston
I understand Starmer’s offer to the welfare rebel MPs is to protect PIP payments for all existing claimants forever. There would be no detriment from the reforms for existing claimants. This would shave circa £2bn from the reform savings by 2029. I am unclear whether this would persuade enough rebels to back the remaining reforms in next Tuesday’s vote1 -

That’s the only good thing that’s come out of it so far then 😂😂🥲🥲🥲🥲

It should be. I'm just going on what I've heard and so-called 'leaked' info from people who work in the DWP but who knows what the truth is.

I'm a glass half full gal
So I really hope there is just a touch of positivity for us today?
Of course, we don't know what the concessions might be - and I don't trust them as far as I can see them (which is not very far!) BUT things are being discussed.
Let's hope :)0 -
I would think if you’re up for review you’re not classed as a new claimant

"Protect PIP payments for existing claimants forever" yet Reform/Tories are most likely to form the next government and they want even more cuts.
There is no "forever" in politics and I hope rebels don't back down.

Still screwed by the sounds of it, unless one of these concessions changes that but unlikely.

But there’s also something about people with multiple conditions and making it easier. So how is that going to happen as I’ve read that those of us with several conditions seems to get 2 points across different descriptors

NONE of this had to happen in the first bloody place.
So what is the point other than to smooth the road for Tories/Reform to cut even further post 2030?

I'm afraid I can't imagine that hard faced, stone woman being driven to tears by anything… probably just dramatics.

What is a grandfathering for the top up 🤷♀️

There may be several ammendments tabled. The "Big One" we've been discussing here is the "reasoned ammendment" currently signed by 134 MPs, mainly Labour rebels. It is entirely up to the Speaker decide which if any tabled ammendments can be voted on. Where he to selected the reasoned ammendment, it would be devoted, voted on, and if passed it would stall the Bill. There could not be a vote on the Bill.
The role of the Speaker is to preserve the powers of Parliament, often against the powers of the Government of the day.
