I think July 9th is the next vote after todays, and it's the one where the speaker decides if its a money bill or will face proper scrutiny in the Lords.

Unfortunately it's articles like this from the Telegraph which we are up against.
Enhanced Pip payments for people โpretending to be ill or deliberately producing symptomsโ revealed by DWP figures

Benefit claimants with conditions including acne and writerโs cramp have been handed additional disability payments from the Government, official figures show.
A new analysis of data from the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) has found a sharp rise in a number of conditions suffered by people claiming extra money because of mobility problems.

This included 13 people who received enhanced personal independence payment (Pip) for โfactitious disorders,โ which are conditions when a patientย โpretends to be ill or deliberately produces symptoms of illnessโ, according to the NHS definition.
Other problems reported by claimants receiving โenhancedโ mobility payments of ยฃ77 a week included five people with acne, six with writerโs cramp โ a movement disorder that makes it hard to use the hands โ and 31 with food intolerances.
It came as the Governmentย launched a review into Pip, after a rebellion of more than 120 Labour MPs against Sir Keir Starmerโs plan to reduce the number of people who can claim it.
Sir Stephen Timms, a welfare minister, will now run a consultation with disabled people, charities and other stakeholders to determine how the rules should be changed.

The Labour government argues that it must try toย reduce the cost of welfare in Britain, which has seen a sharp rise since the Covid-pandemic mostly through more claims for mental illness.

He also proposed cutting Pip, which is paid to claimants regardless of whether they work, and consists of a โdaily livingโ and โmobilityโ allowance.
But after the rebellion, ministers have scaled back the reforms and will now only save around ยฃ2.5 billion a year by the end of the decade, compared to ยฃ5 billion initially projected.
The climbdown means that all existing Pip claimants will continue to receive their current benefits, and the stricter rules will only apply to new claimants from November 2026.

Ministers argue that fewer people will actually be in poverty because the impact assessment did not include the effect of a ยฃ1 billion-a-year drive to get people back into work.
Some Labour MPs said they stillย planned to vote against the changes on Tuesday, but the Government is expected to get legislation through the House of Commons with the support of some former rebels.
The spiralling cost of disability benefits was laid bare by a new analysis of the data by the TaxPayersโ Alliance campaign group, which highlighted examples of claims that warranted the ยฃ77 weekly payment under DWP rules.
The total number of claimants receiving enhanced Pip in April 2025 was 1.75 million, up from 734,136 in January 2019.
The largest increases, in line with other benefits data, were granted toย people with mental health issuesย including autism, anxiety and depression.
https://cf-particle-html.eip.telegraph.co.uk/fe163339-e55d-4911-87cd-fa7f9b7f816a.html?direct=true&id=fe163339-e55d-4911-87cd-fa7f9b7f816a&template=clsBut other rises involved people with factitious disorders, which increased to 13 claimants from 11.
The NHS says thatย Munchausen syndrome, one factitious disorder, happens when a patientโs โmain intention is to assume the โsick roleโ so that people care for them and they are the centre of attentionโ.
The health serviceโs website adds: โSome people with Munchausen syndrome may spend years travelling from hospital to hospital faking a wide range of illnesses.
โWhen itโs discovered theyโre lying, they may suddenly leave hospital and move to another area.โ
John OโConnell, chief executive of the TaxPayersโ Alliance, said: โWhile England is a sicker country than it was before the pandemic, the size of the increases for many of these conditions surely cannot be believed by even the most gullible of MPs.
โBritain is in desperate need of a politician who has the courage to tackle this system head on to ensure that taxpayersโ money is being protected while those who genuinely need help receive it.โ
The Labour about-turn on benefits reform means that far fewer people are expected to be denied payments than under the Governmentโs original plans.
In the Autumn Statement, the DWP projected that theย Pip caseload would continue to rise, jumping from 3.7 million to 5.1 by 2029/30.
The expected annual spend has been forecast to increase by ยฃ18 billion by the end of the decade without reform.
https://cf-particle-html.eip.telegraph.co.uk/d7e02f9a-d02c-4f34-9c9b-5bea9f1159ee.html?direct=true&id=d7e02f9a-d02c-4f34-9c9b-5bea9f1159ee&template=clsThe cuts first suggested by Labour would, according to updated figures in the Spring Statement, see the Pip caseload rise by 423,000 less than that initial estimate, although it would still be about a million more people higher than current levels.
Alongside other reforms relating to universal credit, the IFS estimated total savings of ยฃ4.6 billion at the time, but roughly ยฃ3 billion of that saving is now set to be lost, taking total savings to less than 0.5 per cent of the welfare budget.
The number of people claiming Pip has risen by 55 per cent since January 2020, with one in seven (13.7 per cent) of people now successfully claiming it.
The largest increases are among people with mental health issues, and psychiatric disorders are now responsible for 38 per cent of claims.
Some commentators have suggested that the increase in successful claims has been driven by online or over-the-phone Pip assessments, which previously happened mostly in person.
Prospective claimants can consult websites that advise which keywords to use to score the maximum number of points on the assessment.
Almost 6 per cent of young adults are claiming for mental health issues, up from less than 2 per cent in the 2000s, Telegraph analysis shows.
In some parts of the country, as many as one in six adults are on disability payments. In Liverpool, Walton, the proportion has increased from 11 per cent to 17.3 per cent. This is compared to just 2.8 per cent in Mid Buckinghamshire.

True, and
We can choose to write to the media re incorrect facts and prejudices against disabiled people.
In fact, we all owe it to ourselves to do so.
Education not prejudice.
Milan, the eternal optimist.
In many countries you cannot write to the media or govt because its a dictatorship where you might be killed or disappear for doing so.
My glass is mostly half full; life is full of problems i.er. opportunities for compassion.

This is what I read on Benefits and Work about an hour ago:
"In addition, several Labour MPs have said they intend to vote for the bill or abstain at the second reading.ย But if they are not happy with the further information that becomes available over the coming week, they will vote against the bill at its third reading on 9 July."
And this what I've just read on B&W, which was published about 10 minutes or so ago:
"The second reading of the Universal Credit and Personal Independent Payment Billย begins at 1.40pm today. The vote is expected at 7.00pm."
I believeย it is mandatory for a bill to go through three readings in both the House of Commons and the House of Lords in the UK Parliament before it can become law.ย And from Google, the third reading is the final chance for the Commons to debate the contents of a Bill. It usually takes place immediately after report stage as the next item of business on the same day.

Starmer would have ot like that here he'd love to be a dictator already tried but acne can be horrendous emotionally and physically for the person

I'm not watching but she is amazing ๐

That's completely understandable @Catherine21. It's been very intense this week so it's crucial you look after yourself. ๐

My guess is that 'acne' and 'writers cramp' are just one of many conditions the persons had. I very much doubt anyone was able to get it on those conditions alone and certainly not mobility as is being claimed.

Catherine wrote this above:
Whats happening today is it going ahead i'm confused that's all labour do is confuse people.
Again Catherine and others who are confused distressed anxiouism' even suicdal, patience please.
And use your friends or any other source of support as well(hobbies, what you enjoy doing, a treat etc.)
It will be over soon and Catherine, I am, and other disabled people are valuable worthy human beings worthy of winning this vote to destroy Starmer's Bill.
Patience, persistence, mindful presence of what is good in our lives, and being kind to ourselves, our friends, those who do help us - please compliment them.
We deserve happiness and not oppression.
I encourage everyone to Google mindfulness and mediation and your postcode or town's name, and to practice yoga, relaxation.
Please Google anything you think might heal your physical pains and mental agonies.
Lok after yourselves.
PS
Catherine you are a wonderful human being who took my gentle, tender nurturing in a post a few months ago, when you expressed total despair, frustration anxiety and depression. You acted upon my empathy, and recovered, and told me you'd write to your MP.
So, you can do it again.
Buddha's parable of The 84th Problem is relevant here.
It means a farmer approached Buddha Shakyamunni, moaned about his mountain of work, family problems lack of rain, aging etc., etc. And Buddha said I cant solve your problems, you can, if we listen to each other compassionately. The farmer said: ''But you are the Teacher, the guru, you can surely end my suffering. ?'' No I cannot, I can help by compassion and wisdom, but I cant do it for you, and do you know what the worst problem is? Its the attitude we shouldn't suffer problems. ''
In Freudian terms, we resist having problems, give up the resistance to solving your own problems, with help, and then suffering neurosis will heal.
Be joyful, radiate love, I am, and anyone can do it. Problems are opportunities; all demons are diamonds.
I hope this helps. We all deserve love, insight, and support, and happiness too.

Thank you so much for your lobbying, and kindness to share it - so helping alleviate our ovrblown fears/anxiety. And to all those who have provided other informations - knowledge is power - and peace of mind.

The Taxpayers Alliance are one of those lobbying groups that represent the interests of the super rich who want ultra-low taxes and no redistributing of taxpayer money to poor people. The IEA are another. Their supporters will trumpet slogans like 'taxation is theft'. Many of these people will probably change their tune when AI takes their jobs and they are left screaming for UBI.

I am with you Catherine, lets see what the end result is ๐
