Dear Popppy, is there any chance of making a pettition, for us to sign, to stop the errosion of TP? This will be such a terrible thing for all, and esspecially the single dissabled. It is totally unjust.

Unfortunately I won't be able to do that because I just don't have the time. My health hasn't been great for the past 5 days or so either. You can of course do one yourself.

Thankyou! Totally understand. I have been absolutely ussless recently,some cardiac issues on top of ME/CFS. I also do not do any of thesocial media to push a petition to other people. I do not use asmartphone either. Maybe there will be someone who will come up withthis idea as well.

I new I as doing the right Hong telling UC to do one the emotional black mail they have over "well U won't get payed then will yeh first I need to go to job centre on a work related interview 🤔IAM autoimmune and have mental health vurlable to my own environment or any illness viral virus airborne not airborne i have no defence biology as my body immune response is badly damaged and u can't repair it there is no cure for it it can end up in clinically extremely vulnerable serious medical condition every single time I no this because it's nearly took my life once forced on by JSA telling me I was lazy needed to concentrate on work put my interview up to 4x a week cause she thought i was partying to hard no it was ever muscle weakness setting in from my compromised system that turned on me damaged me I have a ute kidney failure ck level hitting higher than Britains triothelogn champ on 29.000 plus they had 0 idea how i was siting up talking to them with the results my bloods i should been in a coma I lost all power from my stomach to my feet i was asleep in bed,29 yrs old my life had to change being forced to stress push myself to hard it nearly killed me left me life long disability no one cam explain how or why it happend just that it does happen when it does there is no replacing it or repairing it its impossible but with in 3 days doing that migration move UC account i new straight away that would happen i even logged it in July when first go the notice instead doing it straight away to protect my illnesses my welfare rights, my eligibility rights, and difference in any laws made to UC under migration scheme transitional protection law,normal ppl applying for UC benefit without migration ref number your not entitled the benefits of the transitional protection included cover the 5 week dead

I will try to explain it further, with simple rounded figures and I hope this will help.
For example when you claim UC if the standard allowance is £400 per month and your Transitional Protection (TP) is £200 per month and benefits increased from April next year. If the standard allowance increases to £420 per month then your TP will decrease by £20, which will mean it will drop to £180 per month.
For this reason because of the decrease in the TP your overall benefits entitlement will remain the same.
How quick is decreases will be different for each individual person, depending on their their circumstances. Some will find it will decrease within a few months and others it could be a couple of years.
So to recap on the above…
Standard allowance £400
TP £200.. overall UC entitlement £600
April 2025 standard allowance increased by £20 to £420.
TP decreases by the same £20, reducing it to £180. Overall UC entitlement £600.
Please note that these are just random figures used in its simplest form but I hope it helps you to understand it a little more.

No, that’s not correct. You won’t lose £400 when you claim UC. You won’t receive SDP either because it doesn’t exist. You will receive Transitional Protection instead.
No, not quite. If housing element increases you will not be worse or better off if you still have TP on your claim. Your entitlement will remain the same.
I totally get that you don’t understand numbers. I live with my daughter who is exactly the same. It doesn’t matter how much i explain something that includes numbers, she just doesn’t understand.

I'm the same with numbers ,think I have discalculia . So if your rent goes up , will your TP go down because of it. Its so confusing

So my rent goes up each year, so basically I be worse off due to the Tp being eroded. At the moment my rent is fully covered, so that won't be the case . Won't the housing element cover it like Housing benefit does

No, you won’t be worse off but you won’t be better off either because of the erosion of the TP.
When you claim UC the housing element should be the same amount as your housing benefit.0 -
Would it be worth trying?
When I receive the Managed Migration letter, can I ask them to cancel the migration as I will be worse off in the long run as a single person?
I sow it somewhere:
“Notice can be cancelled if issued in error or not in the best interest of the claimant.”

You don’t have to claim UC if you don’t want you. You can contact the managed migration team to cancel it.
What do you mean you’ll be worse off in the long run? If you don’t claim UC your existing means tested benefits will end, that will make you worse off.

@vikki66 Transitional Protection (TP) only lasts for 1 year for those migrating from Tax credits if they have capital of more than £16,000.
For everyone else it lasts for as long as it lasts and that will depend on each individual circumstances.
Yes once it erodes completely and benefits increase then yours will also increase.

I know you don't get thespecial disability payment with UC . So the tp only for an certain time. So without the special disability payment, under UC will I be worse off once the tp eroded.
