My first statement came earlier than they said, from what I can see it looks like they got it right, lower than expected TP because it turns out the LHA rate is slightly higher than what I was getting on HB. LCWRA included, and nsESA deducted.

Yeah the UC side was very good I think, I think they can provide clearer info which I will put in my summary post next year, but it was all entirely done online, and they added LCWRA status within 24 hours of the claim.
It was the nsESA that was more anxiety, the scary misleading letter and that it required a phone call.

It's good to hear that your claim was straight forward, thank you for returning with an update. They have improved the migration process for those that were claiming ESA and the system now detects that they were claiming it and which group they were in when they submit their claim for UC. They should have done this a long time ago and it would have saved thousands of people the worry.
The process for New style ESA can also be improved by changing the letter they send out for those that have their contributions based ESA reverted to New style. The letter they send is a standard letter and really only applies to those that are actually claiming it for the first time, rather then reverting to it.
I would appreciate that summary when you have time and if you could start a thread for this that would be helpful too. This thread is 26 pages long now and some members could miss your comments. Hopefully your positive experience will help others who are yet to migrate. Thank you once you again, it's appreciated.

mine went smoothly too it was just my anxiety that made me over think everything . I got my statement 2 days earlier than expected and it was all correct . My payment was due today but I got it on Friday due to it being the weekend . I did keep writing in my journal to check things were done too .

I didn’t get called for an appointment or a phone appointment. Only communication I had was through the online journal and they didn’t question any of the spending.

When you transfer to UC you only need to declare how much money you have. If under £6000 you won't be asked for bank statements.
When on UC some claims are randomly selected to make sure the payments are correct.
You will be asked for ID & bank statements (usually 4 months). During the subsequent phone appointment it's likely you will be asked about spending, I and others were.

I received a UC migration letter today. I'm in ESA support group (old style). Will I need to attend any kind of meeting whatsoever when I switch over? I know you don't need to do a WCA, but I mean a meeting at the Job Centre or on the telephone?

You maybe asked to attend an appointment at your local job centre for your first appointment. If you're unable to attend due to your health condition you can ask for a telephone appointment.
Once you submit your claim the system should now automatically detect that you're in the Support Group for ESA and your claim will include the LCWRA element from the start of your claim.

Thanks for this. I really hope they don't want me to.
I know this is subjective, but am I better off waiting until nearer the deadline to complete the migration, or should I get it out of the way? If I move earlier I will receive more money, but I'll also expose myself to another re-assessment sooner.

If you're better off by claiming UC I don't see why you should delay the process. Times are very hard and the cost of living in through the roof so a little extra money every month will help I'm sure.
You won't need another assessment when you claim. Of course you may need another in future but that's only the same as it is with ESA. The assessment process is the same for both benefits.

I guess you're right. I just thought that ESA re-assessments were suspended because of COVID. So by waiting as long as possible, I'd at least avoid that for 3 months. But if they've been restarted, then yeah there's no benefit to waiting.
Anyway, I did it online. I made a note in my journal that I'm migrating from ESA SG. Let's hope it goes smoothly.

For the majority of people in Support Group for ESA and LCWRA for UC they are still suspended. Many people claim UC without issues and I hope yours goes smoothly too. If you need further advice during your claim or at any other time please do ask.

Sorry, one more question. I've signed up, and I have the option to get an advance on my UC. However, the maximum amount is £393.45, which is the standard amount for UC, without the LCWRA. Is that normal? I know I only signed up yesterday, so I'm hoping that it's just going to take longer for it to update. Generally speaking, how long does it take?

The behind the scenes process for LCWRA element being added during migration is supposed to have been streamlined recently. I have seen a handful of examples of it being confirmed in as quick as a day, but I still advise people to allow at least several weeks.
You'll know when it's been done as the advance amount available will go up.

OK, thanks for that. I was just under the impression that their system automatically detected I was on ESA SG and just applied the LCWRA automatically. Guess I'll just have to wait and hope they get it right.

If I am right, if you managed to do the ID check successfully online, then you hopefully only need to agree to commitments online as well, this applies to UC. That was what happened to me.
