Mines increased slightly. Trying to get to 74kg!!1
-
Yes I was disappointed with my 1kg loss but its not a put on. I think at 1st people loose loads then it slows down. 7kg.4 in total for me and I've dropped a clothes size. Still ploughing through2
-
Well done @Sandy_123 a loss is a loss and good work @Kalps you are getting there.1
-
Keep up the good work everyone yous are all doing great 👍@Sandy_123
Thats amazing your doing so good.
Im not long back from my mums and I weighed myself that's were I have been doing it ever few weeks.
I have been thinking I lost less than I actually have been today I was down to 103kg I had been 112kg to start with so a good loss I’m absolutely chuffed.
Even though I have loads to go it’s going in the right direction.1 -
@Sandy_123
Thanks Sandy the 9kg loss is from the very beginning so I started at the beginning off July so nearly 6 weeks.I was shocked I usually really struggle to loose weight, I definitely think the walking is a massive help.Still a long journey ahead off me.1 -
Yeah walking definitely helping well done2
-
Another 1kg down that's nearly 2 stone all together. I'm waisting away. The only thing I've done is stop cakes, biscuits, chocolate and upped veg, fruit. I still eat carbs portion. I also still have crisps. I don't do gyms or any rigorous exercise because I can't. But what ever I'm doing is working. Had bloods for sugar count today, can't wait for those results as last one's were bad. 3 months ago.5

Good luck @Sandy_123 and very very well done1

Thankyou1

Well done everyone 👍
I need to motivate myself again to try lose some weight.
Hopefully start Monday1 -
2 stone is fantastic @Sandy_123 ... I remember my doctor handing me a block of rubbery stuff that was exactly the weight and substance of 2lb's when I went up to 15 stone a few years ago. His words were, if you can lose this every 3 weeks you've got more chance of keeping it off than trying to hit huge targets.
He was right. Maintaining 12 stone give or take up and down now
What are people's thoughts on the new weight loss injection available on the NHS now.
Would you have it ?
Is there too much emphasis on BMI ? Mine says I'm overweight for my height and age, but I'm not physically to look at
After having a colonoscopy the other week, the only thing I've got to give up is coffee again. I had quite a lecture about the future 'and the world of pain' with my stomach if I keep drinking it.
Almost wish my consultant had stuck to the annual sigmoidoscopy and biopsy I have1 -
Thankyou @WelshBlue personally with the weight loss injection, my thoughts are and it's going to sound a little harsh, but I think drs need to help people with their understanding of a healthier diet first. I appreciate that it's not just about, right ill eat nothing but nutritional foods, because mentally, you have to be prepared to do it for yourself, like giving up smoking or alcohol etc, unless your mind set is there to try, it's not going to happen. Then to say here have this instead at the injection, I'm probably not getting it told the way I'm trying to. But once you stop the injection your back to square one.2
-
@WelshBlue Hope the results from the colonoscopy go well
I'm always in two minds about the weight loss injections. They are kind of like the new fat dissolving injections. I think aiding difficult areas can be such a mental boost for so many, not just physical. But agree with Sandy, it's not a long term or fix it all solution.
I have heard many great stories from people with diabetes who I believe they were developed for. As with medication side effects making it hard on people's metabolisms or for others it is harder to calorie count because they have to carb count, these injections have been able to boost their weight loss. But I have always seen it as prescribed by a GP with a plan in those instances. I have seen people who buy them privately still yo-yo. Which is a shame as they are costly!2 -
@Sandy_123 and @Hannah_Scope ... agreed whole heartedly, it's got to come from within. A crutch is an aid but we've still got to propel ourselves
For years with my undiagnosed PTSD I self medicated with drink and drugs, was given loads of help to quit, but due to the deep seated psychological damage of the trauma and my non-acceptance of said trauma couldn't.
Had my fibro' diagnosis and quite literally quit over night and not touched anything since. The mind is a powerful thing. Both good and bad
On the flip side, my wife has stage 4 renal failure due to Nephrotic Syndrome and had to transfer to a new consultant under the transplant team. They want her to lose up to 2 stone in the next few years ... how I don't know, because she gets in 10, 000 steps and has the healthiest diet of anyone I know. The thought of a transplant or dialysis isn't bothering her ... but stressing how she can lose weight when there's nothing really to change is.
Ironically a lot of 'good foods' were damaging her kidneys because of potassium and phosphates levels1 -
@WelshBlue. I, like you have unresolved PTSD & possibly C-PTSD. I too drank and smoked for years, moreso after my spinal injury. I'm clean now but operate out of fear!!! Also is there any meds/injections to......increase weight!!! Everyone seems to want to lose......but I want to gain. I'm 71KG but want to be 75KG lean muscle though.1
-
@Kalps ... tough innit. I'm on my second round of PTSD therapy. Exposure therapy was first, now going through EMDR ... well was, having a few weeks off because my Psychologist thought I was too fragile to continue for a while ... makes you wonder how broken you are not to have therapy lol
Stay dry and clean mate, I can only speak for myself but I lost a lot of years living through a 'haze and stupor' How I held down the job I did remains a mystery
For weight gain have you tried whey protein ? Ideal in smoothies where you can adds loads of good fats like chocolate powder, peanut butter, milk and bananas as an example1 -
Hi. Thanks for the reply, appreciate it. I hope my online CBT therapist suggests these soon. She's already recognised PTSD from when mum passed away and then spinal injury so I am negatively coloured at the world to a degree. I havnt worked since 2009 afterwhich I went daytime drinking and wasting my life away. I'm 4.8 yrs clean and 1.6 yrs from smoking......I do vape a little. I've come to understand that it's not just my spinal injury that hinders me but moreso the "given up" mindset. So I do need an embedded perspective shift in order to push myself. Daily I lack energy and suffer from depression.1
-
@Kalps ... well done on the 4.8 years ... it's not easy, I'm approaching 14 years and every day I still miss the taste of Stella Artois. But I know I'll never touch another drop because it robbed me of so much time
And well done on the smoking too ... 3 years, and sometimes I could follow someone who's smoking around Other times I think ... that smells disgusting
My new addiction is vaping ... collecting devices.
Sorry to hear of your troubles, I wouldn't say you've a 'given up mindset' - the fact you've given up a substance harder to kick than heroin speaks volumes.
It also seems you've overcome a big hurdle - acceptance. I know I couldn't move on before having that.
I still remember my psychologist holding me as I sobbed at the relief that brought
Good luck my friend, with everything and with the weight gain1 -
Hi bro. Thanks so much. I despise the smell of tobacco smoke now and have done for a while. I will never touch a drop of poison ever again. It literally robbed me of a life and towards the end I was drinkingbfor pain relief and also out of internal anger for a number of reasons. In a nutshell, I have reduced height due to vertebrae collapse so my lung space is compromised.... Even with vape, it's only 10mg and a 10ml salt will last me a week!!! I don't vape much, moreso after meals.1
