I'm so glad you're feeling better 😊 That's made me smile. I'm good thanks. Got a dog and 2 cats keeping me company whilst I work, it's lovely.

That's not cheeky, that's just being frugal 😉 I'd opt for the train as I find them less stressful but it's whatever suits you best.

I love working from home, I get to listen to my music and talk to everyone here 😊

All you can do is ring PIP again when they open at 8am. We can only guess what's happened.

hi I had the same issue of inconsistency I received a phone call last week and was told in detail what my award was for both living and mobility payments and how much I was owed,I called 6 days later to ask when I should expect it as I was told within 5 days I will receive my back pay only to be told that the system says I haven’t been awarded and the letter posted said I haven’t been awarded I suffer with severe bpd(borderline personality disorder) so this caused me to have a major episode I called back 10 mins later to be told there’s inconveniences on the system and they would investigate it, within the next hour I received a call from the same person who called last week and told me I had been awarded she called to assure me I had been awarded and the system had a “hissy fit” and didn’t put my claim through I now have to wait another 5 days due to “inconsistencies” the same issue happened when I applied the system didn’t put my claim through for assessment I called 3 months later to be told nothing had been done with it this seems to be a very common thing with pip systems

I have received a text today about my pip award, which I’ve been accepted for, what is next process as I’ve not had any letters

The text should have advised you that you will receive a letter within about 2 weeks.

If it’s a first time claim and you weren’t transferring from DLA you’ll be entitled from the date you rang to start your claim. Providing you had the difficulties for at least 3 month at that time.

Any money owed is usually paid first and takes 3-5 working days to go into your bank.

You can ring PIP to ask what you’ve been awarded and when to expect any money owed into your bank and they will tell you.

Hi All! Total newbie here. I got my confirmation of award text on Friday morning (24/01/25) and am fairly anxious in knowing the next steps and what to expect. I would like to know when to expect my back payment and a little clarity ahead of my award letter as it has been a lot to take in.

On a side note - I also have UC with the LCW element in play, with LCWRA being considered at tribunal stage. I submit my earnings each month on 25th which I did yesterday as usual. It seems that my payment due this month is around £100 down on previous months. This is due to the 'Transitional' element being removed and they have stated the reasoning is that I made below the amount agreed in my commitments for 3 consecutive months. Firstly, there is nothing stated in my commitments that says I agreed to this, and I do not recall doing so at any stage. I can only think this is an error, but equally wanted to ask the community for any advice? Also - if this could be, either due to my successful PIP case, or due to LCWRA being awarded (though they haven't stated that to me yet, so I wouldn't be aware). Either way my award is around £100 down, and without any word about when I can expect PIP funds, I am concerned.

    Would appreciate help :)

Money owed from PIP will be in your bank account 3 -5 working days after payment was sent. If you want to know what you've been awarded and when to expect payment you will need to ring PIP to ask and they will tell you.

For your UC.. Transitional Protection ends if your earnings were more than the Administrative Earnings Threshold (AET) in your first assessment period which you first claimed and they drop below that level for 3 assessment periods after that, on the 4th assessment period your Transitional Protection will end. Unfortunately, it's not an error.

As you haven't been found to have LCWRA yet then it can't be because of that. TP would only decrease once that element is included.

See link for confirmation of the earnings reduction and AET and scroll to Transitional Protection ends.

thank you for the response but i do not think that my earnings were more than any given threshold even at the start. Nor have i ever been told of any such threshold. I was aware of a minimum payment floor which removed once move to LCW

I'm not aware that they should tell you those rules unfortunately. How much was your earnings in the first month that you claimed UC? and when exactly did you claim please?

my first payment came in in april 2024 and was for the assessment period prior to that. My take home pay for that period was £100.

I actually made more than that during the assessment period before the most recent one.

Those earnings would have definitely been below the AET at that time. I have no idea why your TP has reduced in this case. Has it eroded completely? and there's no other elements recently been included?

No Poppy. It states on the breakdown of my next payment that I am no longer getting TP based on the 3 consecutive months rule… but Like you say, in this instance it doesn't ring true. There haven't been any new elements came in - I wondered if it was due to time since i transitioned over from WTC, but thats not what it says. I guess there is a chance this is an error? I should call them tomorrow but it has been a stressful day worrying about it

Poppy when u say 3 to 5 days can u tell me more about that.ie depends on ur bank etc..because I've been told the 30th I'll get backdated money..I'm just hoping it gets in before that as they have incorrect bank details

Yes 3-5 working days, it depends on your bank and when payment was actually sent. You said they have the incorrect bank details? or was that a typo and you meant they have the correct bank details?

If so and they've told you 30th January then that's the date I would expect it to be in your bank. They are usually correct with the date.

For the TP reduction on your UC then I'd advise you to put a message onto your journal under service issues or payment and ask them why it's been reduced. Please tell then that your earnings were not above the AET in your first assessment period so the TP should not have been reduced.

Thanks Poppy. I did call them this morning and explained and this has been passed on for review. I did have a reply on my journal saying that it was correctly applied, but I have since confirmed that that message was in response to my journal message and my phonecall this morning is still being addressed higher up the food chain.

This has completely blindsided me and I have no idea how I will get by losing such a significant part of my rate - but if they remain firm on it I have no idea what to do next. I am guessing a mandatory reconsideration - but in reality, it was never in my claimant commitments, nor was I ever making big money…. something is off but I feel like I am fighting a losing battle here….

Those earnings rules do not need to be in your claimant commitment. They are included in the UC Transitional Protection Regulations, which are law. As you said your earnings were only £100 in the first month that you claimed UC then that rule will not apply. Please made sure you're 100% certain that your earnings were not more than this in that first month. If they were above the AET in that month then 3 assessment periods of earnings of less than the AET would erode your TP.

Your next step would be the MR if your earnings were as you said they were. Please also be aware that if you're found to have LCWRA then the TP would erode anyway, once that is included.

All of my claim periods are in my online account and I have double checked and the very first one of those showing on my account was from April 2024 and the take home pay in that month was £100, with UC taking £55.00 from that amount as at that time I had not been awarded LCW.

I have this morning contacted UC again and it has been escalated again to case manager. I also have put word on my journal stating what you said about the AET.

Fingers crossed we wont have to go to MR on this one.

Thank you for the help Poppy
