Ive not been impressed with him either, he acts very certain but when Ive checked things with the people the CAB contact for specialist advice stuff was not as clear cut as he made out. I would not trust him or the other woman that does youtubes about PIP.

The welfare state is going to be needed in the future. We are actually lucky we have something like welfare infrastructure many countries do not even have it. Most employment will be going in the future. More than 50% of people will NOT be working in 100-200 years time but there will still be an economy and we will still have to buy things. Employment will be taken over by AI. Almost all employment and businesses and trades you can think of can be taken over by AI. I wonder if the WCA assessor will be AI then?
People will not work in 100 years time, we are lucky we already have a welfare state that many countries do not and they are trying to destroy it.

I am thankful that, unlike many people here, I know that my MP is very much against these cuts and has spoken out forcefully about them, mentioning his โfrightened constituentsโ. I have written quite a detailed letter to him, which I know has been received, and I imagine many others have too. He is a Labour MP and I only hope that their own MPs being so vocal will get this Labour Government scared. If they want to hold on to power.and thatโs the aim of any governing party isnโt it, they should start listening fast.

Unfortunately stable therapy dosen't exist anymore on the NHS. I hope you're able to handle seeking a therapist again soon, as by going private it's much less likely the therapy will abruptly end.
It's not okay to go around denying systemic ableism, ust because it dosen't affect you personally. Going after all disabled people is still discrimination.
Also you are still dependent on the DWP for your flat pension. The vast majority of DWP payments are for pensions, not disability benefits. Or unemployment for that matter.
And you can fight them. If people gave up fighting against fascist eugenicists that is the UK establishment, change will never happen. Case in point, the original DDA 1995.

100%. Even if AI wasn't taking over jobs, unemployment is still needed in the economy to keep inflation down while helping circulate the economy via unemployment benefits. Not to mention all the disabled and elderly people getting older and living longer.

It's hardly going to save money by doing more assessments and disabled people are going to be put in such a bad position that so many more will appeal than have ever done.
It's self defeating as it will cost more money to deal with all that, totally without the elephant in the room that it costs the state far more to put us even further into poverty than it's going to save. ๐คฆ

Those 1970s predictions occured before neoliberalism became the dominant ideology in political and media circles. If it wasn't for neoliberalism (and by extension, the fascism that inevitably occurs as neoliberalism further restricts capital), it's quite possible those predictions would be correct.

As a new member to the forum, you should not be facing this much criticism and judgement for your comments. I understand much of what you're saying. I'm also 60+ without my due benefits but still disabled! If you're a woman then of course you know what discrimination is! ๐

Thank you. Everybody seems to be offended these days. I'm not on here to upset the apple cart, I was just saying how it is and present governments and past governments aren't forgiving. This mostly started with the Blair government and he still has a lot of sway by the looks of it, he's been advising Starmer on what to do with benefits. It was just my opinion and I was hoping some people wouldn't take offence, but obviously they have.
