DWP confirms it is increasing the automatic extension period of existing PIP awards awaiting review

No nothing from PIP yet.    I had £250 put into my account this morning from ESA   no idea what that is for.    not heard anything from ESA about it ending because of the pension starting but I gather that is half ESA and pension will do the rest when I get my first one.  but no explanations,  even my ESA would not have been due until Tuesday .     but I guess they know what is what so that's all that matters  😂

Did you get any surprises or disappointments?  

I was so hoping to get enhanced mobility so don't have to worry about a car or repairs etc.  But  I don't think I will get it and this would be my last chance. It's just a huge shame I didn't know how to answer some of the questions and took them at face value..    @Kizzie58 no idea about your payment or esa, but do hope you hear soon , yes I got both enhanced again till 2028 a year more than previous,  such a relief,  please let scope know soon has you hear ,fingers crossed for you 😊 

I would like to add my own experience of when my PIP was to be reviewed, I had sent the forms back with up to date evidence (which was from the hospital ) this would have benn about October 2023, I waited for 4 months I did ring but was not given anymore information, I did get a letter saying the PIP had been extended for a year then about a month later I got one of those official PIP letters stating what you get etc, and I was thankful that it had not been reduced, then as I read it the next review was in March 2028, I don't know if this time they were just being nice, after the last review which all I will say is they put me through hell , so I was not expecting this outcome to be good.

Yes they extend it a year I used my year letter to apply for new badge & got a three year one but it depends on the council my brother lives in a different county & only got a year blue badge with his letter

It would be better to start a new claim due to how long it’s been since the decision was made.

Do be aware though that if you reapply using the same evidence you previously used another refusal could be possible.

just waited exactly 46 weeks for my pip review to complete, I have been very ill with flu and in semi consciousness had a txt message saying my review is complete,I panicked as there was no clue what the award was in the message so I called them amd they told me I have been awarded the same high rate care and low rate mobility for 4 extra years so very happy with that

Same as what Darrenfh said. I was awarded PIP and when asked for a review due to poor mobility as they didn’t award the correct amount of points for my circumstances, they - extended my claim for 3 years from 2023. Now, lots of you are saying you are happy with that but all they are doing is finishing your claim and ignoring any change of circumstances which was my case so you just think it’s great the extension was made when in fact they are cost saving and perhaps ignoring claimants serious change of circumstances even if you’ve appealed. Just because the DWP extend, it may not be the right decision for your physical, mental and financial circumstances!

Don’t make it easy on them especially after all the hard work sick people must do just to get the ‘correct amount of support’.

Lastly, if your happy with your claim amount and points awarded for DLN and Mobility, then good for you and all the power to you.

I rang up got too impatient, was very nervous. its 4 years, shorter duration, but a pretty significant jump in award, was not expecting that. so they went against the assessment I originally had nearly 6 years ago.
I am struggling to believe it, wonder if I was read the wrong result over phone.

I'm sure they wouldn't have read it wrong but I know what you mean by not quite believing it until you see it in writing.

My award this time was also increased from standard/Enhanced to Enhanced for both parts, paper based assessment again, for 6 years this time instead of the usual 3. My last actual assessment was in 2016.

Just incase you didn't know, you can challenge the award length only but if you do this you must make sure you tell them you're happy with the award itself. Although for DWP they will look at the whole award again BUT it's very rare to lose points at MR stage.

If it gets to Tribunal stage when you tell them you're happy with the award itself, they shouldn't look at that, only the award length.
