My specialist gave me some medication a while back but unfortunately I had to stop taking it because it was making things worse.  The only time they have given me anything is if I'm having a major flare up .  I am going to try and speak with a GP next week and I have an appointment with a mental health worker . I'm just struggling a bit at the moment.  I'm sorry @Beaver79 I truly am very sorry 🙏  . Thank you for your support it's appreciated.

Been trying my best to get some advice from my gastrointestinal specialist for days and to no avail I'm getting nothing back . I get told by his secretary that he's a very busy person who is difficult to get hold of . Well at least I've tried.

@Strawberry1 Have you asked to be put through to the IBD nurses? They can help advise and although may not be able to speak to your consultant, may be able to speak to a consultant to help support you <3

Hi @Hannah_Scope , whenever I've called before they have never told me to ask for IBD nurse it's straight to the consultant.  There are obviously a great deal of people suffering like ourselves.  I'm very unhappy with the NHS  at the moment and I'm sure I won't be the only one either.  They are already telling us on the news how bad things are and Winter hasn't officially started.  The government need to put more resources into the NHS but they won't and there will always be people who fall down without help  how many times are there stories on the news how hospital staff have let people down . Is down right despicable. Sorry @Hannah_Scope but as you can see I'm fuming .

I am probably not going to be very popular because of my complaining about things but there will always be something else , somewhere else where a complaint is being made of some kind . How many people have had operations cancelled through the NHS . Unfortunately not everyone can afford to go private.

I can see why you are mad! I would call and say that if they are not going to let you speak to the consultant then you would like to speak to one of the IBD nurses. The NHS is going through a difficult patch and then like you said, adding the winter months on top. It is so bad many people are not getting the help they need. I hope you are able to get through on Monday and speak to someone!

@noman , Ulcerative colitis runs in the family so does Coeliac disease.  Some people in the family where prescribed steriods to try to calm it down.  Unfortunately for my Grandad they wouldn't have had the right meds for him so he would have suffered alot . He could only work a certain shift because he wouldn't have been able to get off the toilet.

@noman Actually...I have IBD, and I've gone through a pack of 24 rolls in a week before! With IBD, everyone is different. In my experience flare ups were awful to go through. I've slept on the bathroom floor out of exhaustion before.

After I posted @Albus_Scope , I thought maybe I should have not troubled anyone if I'm honest.
