Personally I wouldn't listen to that Noah woman on youtube, she is saying this will go through and seems to think the changes are a good thing .

Perhaps she is controlled opposition ?

It makes no difference now what political parties are called - the "deep state", according to my observations, about 15 years ago decided to cut actual payments to pensioners and the disabled.

It is becoming increasingly clear that the "social model of disability" was "invented" in the interests of the ruling classes. With the medical model, the government would not be able to easily and quickly escalate discrimination against the disabled as it does now.

Thank you WhatThe for sharing all the information around the combining the two assessments. I have only read it a couple of times, need to read it again when my meds kick in 😁

    this part still appears unanswered

Secondly, we will test the feasibility of using a single assessment to determine eligibility for PIP, and ESA-Universal Credit.

Building on the integrated service, we want to simplify claimants’ participation in these processes even further. We have listened to the concerns of those who feel they are being asked for the same information at face-to-face assessments for different benefits. We will therefore explore how a single assessment could improve the experience of those who apply for PIP and ESA-Universal Credit at the same time.

It would be nice to know what the outcome of that exploration was ? if indeed they ever did explore it. The idea has, it seems been around for some time and it appears this government has seen a huge advantage in now bringing this single assessment to fruition, with or without the said exploration/test. Still a lot to mull over later but much of it seems to just be the same old same old apart from, the niggling to me part around the test/exploration 😁Thanks again for sharing this.

The Work and Pensions Secretary's speech announcing new measures to support disabled people, including stopping unnecessary reassessments for disabled pensioners.

It was a speech given in 2019 Catherine. It is interesting in that the Government at that time were considering combining the assessments for PIP, UC, ESA etc into just one but they were proposing conducting a small scale test/exploration first to see how if it would work. I really want to know if that exploration was ever conducted and if it was what were the outcomes.

    mrsBB,

First, we are creating an integrated service for PIP and Work Capability Assessments from 2021

How do we find out what happened to this because of lockdown? I just don't know. Did they not create an integrated service for PIP and WCA claimants?? They had plenty of time to do that.

I am highest rate pip and I only ever get 3 year awards.

Its ludicrous to keep reassessing us and a waste of money.

I agree , there is a video on youtube from a news channel cannot remember the name , but it is saying the UK government are run by the 'deep state' cabal .

I could agree with you more.

Yes you are right, I had completely forgotten about lockdown. My guess is they were probably too busy telling us all to stay away from each other that they had forgotten they had decided to integrate the assessments ! and or conduct that said test/exploration ! I have no idea who would know what happened around this but what seems clear is that the idea of integrating both assessments into one single assessment has been a ''proposal'' for years, one that they now, despite any evidence from the said ''small scale test'' ( if it ever took place ) will be implemented no matter what.

Hi someone wrote on the other discussion page saying….

I am a pensioner on a light touch review every 10 years. I get high rates PIP for both Mobility and Daily Care. I was given 4 points on three of the daily living descriptors and 3 points on one descriptor . The letter I received at the time of the award stated that they would get in touch with me in Nov 2026 to see if my needs were the same. Do I have to worry regarding Labour’s proposals?….

I could not quote it from the other page to this one, I didn't know how :) I would like to know the answer to this too please because I'm in the same boat.

I got PIP for 10 years as well and I got 4 points in 4 different activities and it will be up for renew in about 2030 ish. Do I have to worry as well.

Thank you all and keep well.

Considering only what has been proposed, you have no cause to worry.

It's not a problem! It definitely adds a little bit of hope for us that organisations are investigating in this. I can understand the stress that writing these letters can cause us on top of trying to cope this past week. It's been a hard week for all. I'll continue to keep pushing and doing as much as I can. I seem to be fixated on this at the moment so I might as well put this energy and anger to good use.
