The DWP give NI Credits to CB ESA claimants.

Last year, when the Tories proposed to abolish the WCA and make PIP the only assessment, Labour were furious and opposed. And now they want to legislate the same thing that they opposed a few months ago!
Hypocrisy at its finest.
At least the Tories were abolishing reassessment for the current claimants on LCWRA, and were not cutting benefits to anyone.4 -
The government will be issuing us all with armbands and patches for our coats with a disabled symbol soon to identity us as disabled and a lower class of human, which I’m sorry to say I have felt like for a few years now. Attitudes to the disabled in this country are shameful.

but looking at it from another point of view the tories may have said that to inform the public what labour were going to do when in power as they knew they were going to lose hence labour opposing it at the time to get the votes not rocket science

I haven't a clue what to think. I'm so confused about it all.. I'm on esa and pip so I guess got to wait for Nov'26 for when it starts, lots of water to go under bridge till then. I guess.

Also is it only contribution based ESA that is merged with jsa? and will that happen Nov 26 too?
0 -
no, the very very earliest would be April 27
1 -
What makes you think that its "very very earliest would be April 27"?
0 -
But is it only contribution based being merged? Just I heard that if on the other esa and pip it's better than not having pip, apologies I'm a tad confused

cause 1st has to become law, all the way from consultation. And it has to be April, cause if the NI contributions.
But it’s probably gonna be at least April 2028 as that’s when WCA is due to be scrapped.
If there are no hiccups on the way obv, like still not all ESA IR have transitioned to UC

Yes this is correct x

yes ESA CB with JSA CB proposal for them to be merged into one

I got 13 points for daily living one is four points but that don't mean I get again

what are the chances of them honouring everyone who’s on it now with lifetime esa contribution based support group until change of circumstances

But they were going to remove cash payments altogether and use vouchers instead.
The Tories and Labour are as bad as each other, when it comes to the treatment of disabled people. It's also hypocritical of the Tories to call out Labour by saying that their proposals will put disabled people in poverty, when removing cash payments would've done that as well.

If you get income Related ESA and Tax Credits, you should expect to be invited to UC in
2024 or 2025
. If you get Income Related ESA only or Income Related ESA with Housing Benefit, You should expect to be invited to claim UC in 2028 or 2029.
if ESA IR transitioned to UC is gonna be an obstacle for this new merged benefit. We could be looking at somewhere around 20300 -
Can someone please tell me what a light touch review is and how do you know if that's what you have or will be getting ? My pip review is April 2026

imo, difficult to say cause the way they worded the document is confusing, can have many interpretations
So I’m not sure.
but this change is unfair and will have a terrible effect on future disabled people that’s why it mustn’t go ahead.0
