Well, what they have released so far is not very clear. WCA is going to be scrapped for LCWRA but merged to PIP so all on LCWRA and PIP will have to do the new merged WCA. So EITHER they will have to remove mental health descriptors from the merged WCA to get rid of most mental health claimants from their benefits or add mental health descriptors to facilitate the most severe mental health conditions in the merged WCA.
PIP is really meant to be for mobility conditions and the costs for mobility. It does not really cater for mental health. Remembering that they have added the 4 point daily living making it harder for everyone anyway. This is not right. They have to give us more information on what the WCA is going to be whether they are going to facilitate mental health or not and whether they care about conditions that are NOT COVERED at all even now by the WCA.
If they are going to use the current PIP WCA just adding the 4 point in one descriptor for daily living to qualify it will mean EVERY mental health claimant will not qualify and many mobility claimants will not qualify. They need to give more info and be clear with it.

I had a look at the points i was rewarded on my current pip, I donβt have the βmixing with peopleβ unless I didnβt get points for that, I do have points for engaging with people face to face is that the same as it sounds the same

I'm sorry π to hear that you've had such a bad night.
You must feel powerless to do anything but that doesn't need to be the case. π
Have you heard of Disabled People Against Cuts? π€
They organised the big protest in London recently that was all over the media against these wicked proposals. πͺ
π https://dpac.uk.net/
Also, are you aware of Benefits and Work? I've been a member for years and I don't know where I would be without their expert benefit guides. I can't recommend them enough to give you a proper chance to submit the best evidence you can when you get your next assessment.

They both have campaigns to submit evidence, directly to parliament so you can tell them how the proposals will affect you as a disabled person and more you can take part in besides.
DPAC is Β£2 a year for membership and B&W is Β£20. You can sign up for their newsletters whether you're a member or not.
I do hope that you will consider having a look into them both if you have not been aware of them. Good Luck. π€ π π

Yes they are the same :)
Iβve heard both being used, but itβs the exact same thing.

I was denied PIP in 2014 , I got 4 points for mixing with people as i wear dark glasses and cannot look people in the eye .
I was awarded PIP in 2023 and put the same thing down and got 2 points , this shows me that different assessors have got no clue at all and just tick a number that they see fit .

Same its affecting my sleep and my cpap is showing events higher now, I am supposed to have 5 or less an hour, but now since the benefit changes I am having 8 and 9 . It's cruel what they're doing .

I think that every single claimant who has been assessed with less than 4 points in a single category should apply for a reassessment (what have they got to lose ?) - when these 100,000's applications hit their inbox - they will not be able to cope with the numbers and these reassessments will take decades to churn through ? I liked to think that those claimants would be left with their present benefit levels until they are reassessed - because any delays will be their fault rather than the claimants fault.
And as for the reason for the reassessment request - "Mental Anguish caused by DWP changing the rules"

some are saying its a done deal ,

can this be achieved on review ?

I think you're doing brilliantly Cath. It's torture isn't it? But like you said, we can't let them win. Today the gutter press are going on about people with thousands in savings can claim disability benefits. As if to say how greedy we are.

I don't see why not - a review is supposed to be a chance to tell DWP of any changes

Firstly, I do hope that everything continues to go well for your Mum. π€π
Thank you for asking if we are all OK. In my case, as good as I can be under the circumstances. You're right that we cannot dwell on this all the time, it's the only way to cope and keep ourselves sane.
You must feel powerless to do anything about the situation but that doesn't need to be the case. There is more that you can do than you think.π

Well, you can't exactly contest the 2 point descriptors as she is having an assessment, not going through to appeal but I know what you mean. π
My suggestion for getting your wife the maximum chance of 4 points in a least one DL descriptor is, I don't know if you've heard of them, but I am a member of Benefits and Work, the link is
I've been with them for many years and don't honestly know what I would have done without them. I'm sure that I wouldn't have my two 4 pointers in DL, in preparing a meal and mixing with people, that's for sure. If your wife, or yourself, on her behalf become a member it's only Β£20 a year. You will get the benefit guides and news and will be able to sign up for their newsletter.
I hope that might help you both. π

Thanks ,I'm waiting for review form to come , but heard its taking 8 months or over and really I need to report my hearing loss it really affects my daily life. Problem is that if I report it before the review they could make me start the claim again and that would really damage my MH its bad enough waiting for the review form .

I got 4 but was at tribunal, and yes still worrying as you say could be different as assessment, Iβm in my review window now, my pip ran out March but been extended for a year so could have the assessment anytime

Theyve literally redefined "Disability"

i think mine will be extended, do we still get the review under old rules when finally we are reviewed ?

Hope they leave disabled people that can't work alone. Just migrated from legacy benefits to UC and surprised that I seem to be better off and they added an extra bedroom rate on to my housing benefit. Very pleased!
