I think you're doing brilliantly Cath. It's torture isn't it? But like you said, we can't let them win. Today the gutter press are going on about people with thousands in savings can claim disability benefits. As if to say how greedy we are.

I don't see why not - a review is supposed to be a chance to tell DWP of any changes

Thank you for asking if we are all OK. In my case, as good as I can be under the circumstances. You're right that we cannot dwell on this all the time, it's the only way to cope and keep ourselves sane.
You must feel powerless to do anything about the situation but that doesn't need to be the case. There is more that you can do than you think.😊
Have you heard of Disabled People Against Cuts? 🤔
They organised the big protest in London recently that was all over the media against these wicked proposals.💪 Here's the link.

Also, are you aware of Benefits and Work? I've been a member for years and I don't know where I would be without their expert benefit guides. I can't recommend them enough to give you a proper chance to submit the best evidence you can when you get your next assessment. Here's the link.

They both have campaigns to submit evidence, directly to parliament so you can tell them how the proposals will affect you as a disabled person and more you can take part in besides.
DPAC is £2 a year for membership and B&W is £20. You can sign up for their newsletters whether you're a member or not.
I do hope that you will consider having a look into them both if you have not been aware of them.

Well, you can't exactly contest the 2 point descriptors as she is having an assessment, not going through to appeal but I know what you mean. 😊
My suggestion for getting your wife the maximum chance of 4 points in a least one DL descriptor is, I don't know if you've heard of them, but I am a member of Benefits and Work, the link is
I've been with them for many years and don't honestly know what I would have done without them. I'm sure that I wouldn't have my two 4 pointers in DL, in preparing a meal and mixing with people, that's for sure. If your wife, or yourself, on her behalf become a member it's only £20 a year. You will get the benefit guides and news and will be able to sign up for their newsletter.

Thanks ,I'm waiting for review form to come , but heard its taking 8 months or over and really I need to report my hearing loss it really affects my daily life. Problem is that if I report it before the review they could make me start the claim again and that would really damage my MH its bad enough waiting for the review form .

I got 4 but was at tribunal, and yes still worrying as you say could be different as assessment, I’m in my review window now, my pip ran out March but been extended for a year so could have the assessment anytime

Hope they leave disabled people that can't work alone. Just migrated from legacy benefits to UC and surprised that I seem to be better off and they added an extra bedroom rate on to my housing benefit. Very pleased!

But if your only on CBESA/NEW style ESA and LCWRA then you should carry on on the standard wca until 2028

I’m hoping it will be on the old rules but my review form had to be back in August last year, makes me wonder now if they’re waiting on the new rules before they assess me

Oh apologies , I thought you were in the same boat as me .... CBESA/NEW STYLE....with LCWRA 😌....because wca won't be scrapped till 2028 my thinking is they would use that until pip takes over then we will all be at the mercy of the new pip criteria , god knows what will happen 🤦

Mines in, mine ran out March this year but as they haven’t got round to assessing me it’s been extended until March next year, so any day I could have the assessment

And Liz Kendall wants to reform Sick Notes also, Labour want to make it impossible to claim any form of incapacity orientated benefits.

If they have so much power why are they waiting until 2028/9 , I wouldn't be surprised if all their plans are thrown out with them , I mean who will support the millions who lose their homes lose their health lose their carers ? I think its a matter of 'don't look there , look here ' while we are all worrying sick about their proposals , something more sinister is going on.
Just my thoughts of course I am just voicing them .

When I first applied for PIP, I had two F2F assessments because apparently the assessor did not ask me enough questions during the 2 hour assessment. The second assessor only took half the time. DWP claimed they had no report from the first assessor so I did an SAR. Anyway, my claim eventually went to Tribunal. Their decision and that of the two assessors were all different, some giving me points in one place where others didn't. I even had enhanced from one assessor and not even enough points for standard by another. Thankfully Tribunal gave me enhanced on both. But it really highlighted how the system is not a good one because despite them supposedly following certain 'rules', it ends up just coming down to personal opinion and whether the assessor likes you or not.

I hear you, truly. Your words echo the fear, anger, and exhaustion many of us feel right now. It does feel so cruel and overwhelming, like we’ve been dehumanised and pushed to the brink, simply for needing support to live with dignity and uphold our rights . You’re right ….it takes unimaginable strength just to exist under the pressure we’ve been put under by these senseless Green paper proposals by the liebour crew.
Please know you’re not alone. I’m so so scared too, we all are, but like I said before, fear doesn’t mean silence due to losing hope .
As many have said on this thread-open and closed, this is exactly why the Government has been hyping these cuts since taking office in July 24 and then rushing to publish this proposal -to create fear and silence us.
If anything, it means we must speak even louder. This is why it’s so important that we all respond & oppose the Green Paper consultation individually - not just rely on charities &organisations to speak on our behalf. Every single response matters. That’s how we turn fear into action. That’s how we show them we’re watching, we’re resisting, and we won’t go quietly.
You’re absolutely right that time is short, and legal processes are slow. But they are not unstoppable. Public opposition on this scale, especially if it’s coming directly from disabled people ourselves, will be impossible to ignore forever. There are 16 million disabled people in this country…we are not a minority. And there is power in our collective voice.
Like they say on planes, put your own mask on first. That means making your voice heard in the consultation. Then support the charities and allies who are ready to take the fight further. It starts with us.
